, antique store shopping can, at times, involving a lot of walking, dust, forging for vintage finds, and sweltering temps, so one needs a look that isn't going to wilt at the drop of the hat, and this is the kind I reach for - with jeans or a long skirt subbed in for the capris and heavy duty coat added in the fall and winter - all year long, when I head out to see what kind of wonderful vintage treasures I can find throughout the Okanagan.
While I was in the lovely West Coast I found some time to do some vintage shopping at the Jet Rag jumble sale and the Melrose Trading Post, emerging victorious with some adorable and one of a kind vintage finds.
It's one of my all time favorite vintage finds (I know, I've probably say this about all of my vintage finds at one point or another!)
But Trendlistr has such an amazing selection of items that it's not hard to find a piece that is vintage and wearable at the same time.
Now, granted there wasn't a huge amount of vintage clothing stores there, but between those that there were, antique stores, and thrifting (though I found almost no vintage at the 15 + thrift stores we had time to hit - just two pairs of vintage gloves at the very last one on the evening before we headed home), I was able to do some shopping every day and still didn't get a chance to see everything I could have on that front (there were lots more thrift stores and a couple of antique places we didn't get to on this trip - more to see next time!
We didn't have a table that fit the space at the time, so after some hunting, we found this awesome round table at a vintage shop nearby.
Be sure to carve out time for vintage shopping — keep your fingers crossed in hopes of finding your own mid-century beauty at one of the many vintage shops (Dazzles, The Estate Sale Co and Revivals are just some of our favorites).
I also added this vintage tooled leather clutch I bought decades ago at a flea market (all time favorite find!)
Mine are vintage and I've kind of found them one at a time at flea markets and online, but Williams - Sonoma has a collection that is just gorgeous, and very reasonably priced — no getting up early needed!

Furnishings and accessories were amassed over time — there are gifts from friends and relatives and items found at vintage stores and junk shops or during their stint in Europe — and most have a story.
I have had wonderful finds at thrift stores, vintage pyrex sets in perfect condition, staffordshire sets of china untouched by time, handwoven apacha quilts, English china teapots, Oil paintings from Carmel California artists of California seascapes that are stunning, antique books, complete sets of pure crystal glasses.
I found this old coffee pot at the vintage shops in our area months ago, and I bought it knowing one day I would use it for such a time as this
