I must confess that although I am currently up to my eyeballs in studying and thinking about all
the violent passages in Scripture, it is quite another thing to see some of them on the screen, especially when, right in the midst of the violence, many of the people committing the violence scream something like «In the name of God!»
I have gotten this question a few times recently, so maybe I should write a blog post or two about
the violent passages in the Old Testament.
Though I have been a student of Scripture all my l life, I have always had difficulty with

the violent passages in the Old Testament.

Now pay attention...
in sharp contrast to the Bible, which generally moves from relatively
violent passages to far more peaceful ones, the muslim koran travels the exact OPPOSITE path.
Hmmmm... when you point out the verses
in the koran which call for the murder of Christians and Jews, etc., or point out that «true» muslims are killing people
in the name of Allah, the instant response I get from muslim appeasers is, «Christianity has
violent passages too, and people have killed other people
in the name of Christianity too.»
