But the writer of Hebrews wasn't encouraging us to put our faith in
the visible things of life, but the invisible.

of the natural world, and the only
living thing that's
visible from space.
They praise God for his goodness and power, and thank him for all good
things of life, because they believe him to be the Maker
of all
things,
visible and invisible.
In contrast to the
visible, worldly
life of the Christian in the realm
of the «
things before last» (penultimate), there must be a hidden, disciplined
life of devotion and prayer that is grounded in the belief on the «last
things» (ultimate).

of an animal, from the flea to the whale, a noteworthy obedience to law even in the
life of man.
It is an amazing
thing when the fruits (matter
of the hearts) start becoming
visible in you personal
life.
It is a breath - taking perspective
of which the fuller sense is
of Mary, as «The Woman clothed with the sun», the fullness
of grace, Mediatrix indeed
of all graces, whose womb is the vessel
of life, offered to God «to come upon thee» for the crowning
of the Earth and mankind with the Universal King, Heir
of the Age all
things visible and invisible.
Just as Samuel came up from Sheol in
visible presence, clothed as he was on earth, so the shade
of Patroklos is described in the Iliad as «in all
things like his
living self, in stature, and fair eyes, and voice, and the raiment
of his body was the same.»
The first
of the Thirty - Nine Articles is a comparatively simple assertion: «There is but one
living and true God, everlasting, without body, parts or passions;
of infinite power, wisdom and goodness; the Maker and Preserver
of all
things both
visible and invisible.
Such an impression will
of course be misleading, the consequence
of taking the printed record too seriously, and it will not be total: Here and there in the general excited buzz, there will be
visible an outcrop
of the unchanging reality beneath, some out -
of - date old cleric still raising a stubborn voice about the love
of God, the burden
of sin, the pain
of Christ, the love
of our neighbor, the pilgrimage
of this
life, and the Four Last
Things.

things visible and invisible are relative, and to whom all
things bear witness in their being.»

Lying just a few miles off the coast
of Queensland, Australia, is the Great Barrier Reef; the only
living thing visible from space and one
of the seven wonders
of the natural world.
When I built these objects for my solo shows, like this Google Map marker and these
things, it was always about this question
of, «how does this take effect in real
life and what is
visible?»

I have
lived long enough to see a lot
of very definite changes,
things visible to my eyes.
They, you generic, believe in impossible
things: that carbon dioxide can trap heat and defy gravity, that our atmosphere is empty space, that there is no Water Cycle, that there is no rain in the Carbon
Life Cycle, that
visible light can heat water, that no heat from the Sun reaches us — except they don't know what they believe is impossible because most
of the time they have no idea
of what they're really saying..
