Fabric sculptor Lara Schnitger visits to deliver a free public artist's talk at the foundation's Space gallery on Sun., Mar. 18 from noon to 2 p.m.

On my visit to the space earlier this year, there was an exhibition of Sissel Blystad's mesmerising psychedelic tapestries, programmed by the gallery, that at least at first glance seemed to lack the usual contrivances of the way it normally operates.

For «Frieze Teens» 2016, students met with artists such as T.J. Wilcox and Jessi Reaves, and visited contemporary galleries, museums and nonprofit art spaces including Dieu Donné, Bridget Donahue Gallery, Materials for the Arts, MoMA PS1, Project Projects and White Columns.

Host galleries that give up portions of their own space to visiting galleries while mounting their own separate exhibitions mostly miss the mark: either one show eclipses the other or both co-exist awkwardly, in a kind of flat - footed dance that only increases the overall sense of market competition.

During his tenure, he curated award winning exhibitions such as Ryan McGinness: Studio Visit (2014); Xu Bing: Tobacco Project (2011); Sally Mann: The Flesh and The Spirit (2010); Chuck Close: People Who Matter to Me (2010); Artificial Light (2006), which appeared at VCU Anderson Gallery and MOCA at Goldman Warehouse in Miami; Robert Lazzarini (2003), recognized by the International Association of Art Critics as one of year's best exhibitions; Outer and Inner Space: A Video Exhibition in Three Parts (2002), recipient of an Emily Hall Tremaine Exhibition Award; and Vanitas: Meditations on Life and Death in Contemporary Art (2000).

On the ground floor of the Snøhetta - designed expansion, visitors and passersby will find Richard Serra's monumental sculpture Sequence (2006) in the free - to - visit, glass - walled Roberts Family Gallery, made possible by Linnea and George Roberts, where Roman steps will provide an inviting space to reflect and gather.

Although salons are popular today, Cheryl McGinnis Gallery, a contemporary salon was one of the first to take this notion of artist's discussing their works, studio visits for viewers and a more open and accessible space.

Tomaselli's visit to CCAD coincides with the presentation of his exhibition New York Times, in Room, CCAD's project space in the main gallery.
