Schools Minister Nick Gibb said he wanted to be sure that
the vocational qualifications taken by 14 to 16 - year - olds genuinely lead to further education and are valued by employers.
The publication of the GCSE results gives the clearest picture of which subjects are most popular - although the results do not include
vocational qualifications taken by increasing numbers of students.

take a degree course by correspondence, or to go to a
vocational college where a portfolio of work is of more value than any
