In the wake of the Florida school massacre, the Democrats will tack
on bills that have been stonewalled in committees — including banning
bump stocks plus beefing up background checks and a law that allows courts to take away a disturbed person's guns — to unrelated legislation already up for
votes.
At the same time, Cuomo did not initially knock Republicans in the state Senate for
voting down a series of hostile amendments
on Wednesday that would have banned
bump stocks and strengthened background checks.

voted against «common sense» gun laws like a ban

on gun violence.
Democratic lawmakers in the state Senate this past week tried pushing a
vote on a package of gun control - related measures, like banning
bump stocks and allowing a judge to order guns be taken away from a person if they're deemed a harm to themselves or others.
