Last week, Arizona State Superintendent of Public Instruction, John Huppenthal, received the news that Arizona's No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
waiver extension request had been provisionally granted with a «high - risk» label (i.e., in danger of being revoked).
The department made clear that states that are requesting targeted and substantive changes to their evaluation systems (primarily, adjustments to their timelines) will have
their waiver extension requests evaluated based on their performance on the two other main waiver principles — standards and assessments, and turnarounds.
