in the neighborhood (who all have 1950's tile 3/4 way the
wall) are wondering why they didn't think of it.
I have this exact same layout
in my
kitchen and not only
do I wan to remove the extra cabinets that you
did but also the
wall (the oven
wall) so it will be a totally open
kitchen with one
wall and an island
in the middle, I can't wait to see the finished product and I think this was the perfect time to
do it, summer when kids are home and before holidays.

While most of my cabinets were finally painted right before Christmas (along with my family room
walls and trim and part of the horizontal planking
in my little hall) my one «open cabinet»
in the
kitchen was not able to be painted as it had to have some finishing work
done on the inside of it first.
I'll post pics of the new
kitchen floor when we're
done sealing it next week, and
in the meantime, I'm going to call around and get some estimates on the next big redo we'd like to save up for and tackle - a
wall of windows!
And because it's obviously not to - scale, I also don't know exactly how wide that

walls throughout our open concept home downstairs... darker wood floors... leather sofas... newly remodeled white
kitchen... white cabinets on perimeter with gray Quartz counters... large Old world mahogany island with creamy granite that looks like marble with more colors with chrome pulls on both... lots of textures throughout (grain sack pillows, chunky handmade by my mom throws)... artwork from my talented teenage daughter (straight knock off of Ballard styles of 3 horses.
But one thing we
do have is this little area tucked
in the corner by the half
wall and pillars that separate the
kitchen from the family room (and again
in the dining room and front room).
In the
kitchen, I'd paint the lower cabinets a sage green, and since there isn't much
wall space, I'd
do a nice, light William Morris pattern wallpaper.
