The newer 2.2 - litre diesel improves on this — but with no changes to the suspension or chassis, it's still rather
wallowy in the corners.
Routine handling: It's comfortable but soft - stepping and
wallowy in turns.

It's not
wallowy at all, it just leans nicely when you pitch it into a corner feeling well - supported and keen to let you use the weight balance to get the nose
in.
Only
in the softest setting, Comfort, does it feel cushy bordering on
wallowy, something we did not observe
in Normal mode.
The more time we spent with the Hyundai, though, the more its
wallowy ride on the highway, its poorly controlled body motions
in the twisties, and harsh impacts on broken roads worked against it.
To prevent the hybrid from feeling like a
wallowy pig
in the corners, Hyundai used aluminum instead of steel for the hood and tailgate.
Around harder bends, the Swift remained flat, sucking itself to the road surface and yielding little to the physics that,
in the Sonic, made the ride
wallowy and soft by comparison.
All
in all, the Discovery remains thoroughly composed at low speeds but at highway speeds, there is constant vertical movement and that
wallowy feeling that air suspension - equipped cars are bundled with.
In undulating roads, the car can get a little
wallowy if pushed, but it never feels like it would pitch you off the road unless you did something really ham fisted and careless.
The only drawback
in this category is the
wallowy handling, and that's a minor issue
in a car built for destination driving.
Not only is it plush and comfortable and generally refined for four large adults (wind noise
in our early car notwithstanding... and not unbearable), it also looks and feels special inside and out, offers cutting - edge tech (mostly at a cost...) and even delivers a surprising level of dynamism for a car most owners would excuse if it were a
wallowy wafter.
