The slow,
wandering pace of these games is likely to frustrate gamers accustomed to today's handholding.

Wandering around is also highly relaxing, as there's no breakneck
pace or fear
of failure so often found in other
games.
Then again, the structure
of the overworld can often cause a great deal
of endless
wandering around, leading to unnecessary
pacing problems which really take the fun out
of exploration — one
of the biggest pulls
of a
game of this nature.
Still, the missions offer a nice change
of pace on occasion, providing an excuse to
wander off from the
game's imposed narrative and do your own thing for a bit, allowing you to take in the rich environments as you venture out.
So I essentially broke the
game, and the tension
of the experience, by
wandering around at my own leisurely
pace.
