I will say that, even after 20 months in Dallas, I didn't put the finishing touches on every single room the way I would have liked, but I know I'll
want photos of this house to look back on and figured some of you might enjoy them as well!

I'll be shooting

house more formally once it's all done, but I
wanted to share a sneak peek
of 4 fantastic changes.
Whether you're in the mood to finally check stuff off
of your decorating list or have
house guests / a party / a
photo shoot on the agenda in the near future, sometimes you just
want to make things happen in a matter

So, though the craziness
of packing our entire
house into 3 U-boxes and 2 vehicles has made it difficult to post, and though lack
of a signal has made it difficult to keep in touch via Instagram and Facebook, I
want to share some
photos from that day
of our trip, along with outfit details,

Others were horrible salespeople who wouldn't do their jobs — I've seen it all from agents who wouldn't even send me
photos of the places they had listed to agents who gave me the code to get in the
house and show it to myself because the home was under their usual commission threshold and they didn't
want to waste their time to earn the «low» $ 12k commission (this happened on two occasions!).

want to go style up my coffee table with a cute display... but this
house is too small for a coffee table: — LRB - In my
house in the Philippines I had the following: a few coffee table
photo books
of Scotland, a fish shaped dish filled with shells from the beach in New Jersey, a white metal basket
of coasters with beach scenes on them, under it was a large sea grass basket and a bucket full
of photo albums (well hidden by the white tablecloth over the coffee table) I have just started collecting Pottery Barn catalogs for ideas.
Lastly, I
wanted to share a
photo of a
house I spotted in Wanamassa, NJ, on my way back from the Sunset «pumpkin patch.»

But for my progress report style collage, I
wanted to use
photos of the parts
of the
house I've already done, to see if I'm on my way to a look I like or if I need to make some adjustments.
The (Ikea) sink console is new, but the floor and wall tile is original to the
house and Christi mentioned there were a lot
of cracks in it.Christi mentioned
wanting a «classic, modern and simple» vibe, so I found this inspiration
photo on Pinterest and it served as the perfect jumping off point:
Before I got started, I
wanted to see little bit about the rest
of that lovely home on the range, so I took a gander at some
photos of some
of the other rooms in their
house and guest
house...
I decided that I
wanted to paint the top
of the railing (the handrail) at my new
house black like in the
photos, as a first step to eventually removing the carpet and painting the whole stairway.
I made it a habit
of taking my DSLR with me everywhere and the idea
of taking
photos of the kids inside my home motivated me to deep clean everything because, let's face it, who
wants to see my messy
house?

We liked the weathered look in the inspiration
photos I shared last week, but agreed with some
of you that we needed a little more contrast to keep the
house from feeling washed out, so we
wanted a dark gray stain that would provide a subtle pop, but still allow the grain
of the wood to show through for the weathered effect we liked.
