error bars over short time periods makes sense, but the UAH record would tell us that 21st century total warming would be around 1C, if past trends continue (and that was the point I
wanted to make).
I just
want to see a realistic
error bar next to those claims.
We're still talking about estimates from between 500 and 400 million years ago with
error bars large enough to drive a herd of pre-Columbian buffalo through and you
want to quibble about one degree Celsius.
You
want your doctor to predict the future and tell you whether you are going to die or not — with appropriately tiny
error bars no doubt.
Scream all you
want about
error bars.
I'll stick with the rest of my comment — that if you
want to argue that the models have significant
error bars, then we need to have just as much discussion about the side where the actual results have a HIGHER impact than the model.
