So the alarmist community has reacted predictably by issuing ever more apocalyptic statements, like the federal report» Global Change Impacts in the United States» issued last week which predicts more frequent heat
waves, rising water temperatures, more wildfires, rising disease levels, and rising
sea levels — headlined, in a paper I read, as «Getting
Warmer.»

If your goal is to enable the long - time survival of the human race, and to reduce potentially devastating environmental risks to society (drought, floods, famine, heat
waves,
sea level rise, etc) then focusing on global
warming mitigation would make more sense.
However, I've never seen a single media article in any U.S. press outlet that covered these issues — the large - scale evidence for global
warming (melting glaciers,
warming poles, shrinking
sea ice, ocean temperatures) to the local scale (more intense hurricanes, more intense precipitation, more frequent droughts and heat
waves) while also discussing the real causes (fossil fuels and deforestation) and the real solutions (replacement of fossil fuels with renewables, limiting deforestation, and halting the use of fossil fuels, especially coal and oil.)
The denialist cut - paste attempts to — via logical fallacy, hand -

IF cool deep
sea water were mixed relentlessly with surface water by some engineering method --(e.g. lots of
wave operated pumps and 800m pipes) could that enouromous cool reservoir of water a) mitigate the thermal expansion of the oceans because of the differential in thermal expansion of cold and
warm water, and b) cool the atmosphere enough to reduce the other wise expected effects of global
warming?
The second aspect of climate change that is likely affecting Alaska more and more is the apparent tendency of

warmer sea surface temperatures in the Pacific to contribute to larger

Similar negative effects occur with worsening air pollution — higher levels of ground - level ozone smog and other pollutants that increase with
warmer temperatures have been directly linked with increased rates of respiratory and cardiovascular disease — food production and safety —
warmer temperatures and varying rainfall patterns mess up staple crop yields and aid the migration and breeding of pests that can devastate crops — flooding — as rising
sea levels make coastal areas and densely - populated river deltas more susceptible to storm surges and flooding that result from severe weather — and wildfires, which can be ancillary to increased heat
waves and are also responsible for poor air quality (not to mention burning people's homes and crops).
As the planet

But if you're saying that the effect of global

sea level rise initially only affected the

The «so called science» has so far proven remarkably accurate in its predictions of a

The study said that the world risks «cataclysmic changes» caused by extreme heat

The World Bank also warned when it released its report that «we're on track for a 4 °C
warmer world [by century's end] marked by extreme heat
waves, declining global food stocks, loss of ecosystems and biodiversity, and life - threatening
sea level rise.»
As reported by Chris Mooney at Mother Jones at the time (now a journalist at the Washington Post), the draft report warned unequivocally that unchecked greenhouse gas emissions would cause the global
warming trend to «accelerate significantly,» bringing more heat
waves and weather extremes, severe storms, rising
seas, devastating floods, prolonged droughts, and more.
From

This
warming, in turn, has melted ice, raised

Two articles recently published in the peer reviewed literature discuss the contribution of

Which forms the basis for the IPCC claim of high climate sensitivity (mean value of 3.2 C), resulting in significant global
warming (up to 6.4 C
warming by 2100), «extreme high
sea levels», increased «heat
waves», increased «heavy rains» and floods, increased «droughts», increased «intense tropical cyclones» — which, in turn, lead to crop failures, disappearance of glaciers now supplying drinking water to millions, increased vector borne diseases, etc. (for short, potentially catastrophic AGW — or «CAGW»).
Judith — you say «The stadium

Sea level rising by thermal expansion AND ice melt
Sea ice melting (Arctic and Antarctic) Glaciers melting worldwide Arctic and Antarctic Peninsula heating up fastest Melting on ice sheets is accelerating More severe weather (droughts, floods, storms, heat
waves, hard freezes, etc.) Bottom line: These changes do not fit the natural patterns unless we add the effects of increased Greenhouse gasses Signs that global
warming is underway
If we continue on our current emissions path, we're already headed for
warming of up to 9 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100, which few climate scientists argue would be anything other than catastrophic, because of the drastic rise in
sea levels, heat
waves, species extinctions and shifts in rainfall that would result.
Climate change is the long - term average of a region's weather events lumped together. There are some effects of greenhouse gases and global
warming: melting of ice caps, rising
sea levels, change in climatic patterns, spread diseases, economic consequences, increased droughts and heat
waves.
Based on the results of researches and scientific studies, the climatic rise in the world's temperature, the
sea level rise and coastal flooding, abnormal weather patterns, unusually
warm weather heat
waves, ocean
warming, devastating typhoons and tornadoes, El Niño and la Niña, heavy snowfalls in many parts of the world, increased ranges of pests, drought and fires, and loss of biodiversity are the life - threatening results of climate change.
When we put these developments against the harsh warnings of an organization as conservative as the World Bank — that «we're on track for a 4 °C
warmer world marked by extreme heat -
waves, declining global food stocks, loss of ecosystems and biodiversity, and life - threatening
sea level rise» — the only reasonable conclusion is that the world has gone mad.
There is new information that lack of
sea ice causes storms to produce larger
waves and more coastal erosion.5 An additional contributing factor is that coastal bluffs that were «cemented» by permafrost are beginning to thaw in response to
warmer air and ocean waters, and are therefore more vulnerable to erosion.22 Standard defensive adaptation strategies to protect coastal communities from erosion such as use of rock walls, sandbags, and riprap have been largely unsuccessful.23 There remains considerable uncertainty, however, about the spatial patterns of future coastal erosion.
To the long list of predicted consequences of global
warming — stronger storms, methane release, habitat changes, ice - sheet melting, rising
seas, stronger El Niños, killer heat
waves — we must now add abrupt, catastrophic coolings.
Part of that leftover

This is true of unusually
warm events — one heat

warming.
