«Such surveys are often cited
as demonstrating a near - unanimous scientific consensus in favor of a climate policy, when they never ask any question about whether and to what extent the anthropogenic component in recent
warming might be dangerous or about whether a «climate policy» should be adopted in attempted
mitigation of future
warming.»

The link between adverse impacts such
as more wildfires, ecosystem changes, extreme weather events etc. and their

warming.

mitigation (much
as he had undermined Global
Warming mitigation efforts in the Clinton Administration).
Thus the ever - increasing hype of having to act now made no sense,
as the
warming was coming regardless,
mitigation of the damage and adaptation to the changed climate was the only logical course.
The instabilities in the climate system and the movement from global
warming to global heating kicks in above 350 ppm, so that
as the ppm increase,

as noted by Mike) will continue to occur to human and other life forms.
In its latest assessment of the progress of climate change, the body said: «If
warming is not kept below two degrees centigrade, which will require the strongest
mitigation efforts, and currently looks very unlikely to be achieved, the substantial global impacts will occur, such

However, the researchers point out that using solar geoengineering to hold global
warming to 1.5 C would not have the same environmental effect
as reaching the target using
mitigation.
-LSB-...] you can accept all the basic tenets of greenhouse physics and still conclude that the threat of a dangerously large
warming is so improbable
as to be negligible, while the threat of real harm from climate -
mitigation policies is already so high
as to be worrying, that the cure is proving far worse than the disease is ever likely to be,» Ridley said in the 2011 Angus Millar speech on «Scientific Heresy,» reposted in its entirety at the skeptical blog Watts Up With That.
Indeed, pre-2020
mitigation measures are likely the only way
warming can be limited to 1.5 degrees,
as most studies suggest that, to limit
warming to that degree, carbon emissions have to peak around 2020.

warming climate, or the co-benefits of
mitigation action, such
as improved air quality.
As Nic Lewis (and others) have shown, the best empirical estimate of sensitivity, based on all observed
warming, is low enough that it is impossible to currently justify expensive

What we should do is identify the most ambitious
mitigation scenario in AR5 and, based on this, agree a global budget to 2050,
as well
as agreed levels of emissions for 2020, 2025 and 2030, all consistent with a reasonable chance of keeping
warming below 1.5 C. Subsequently, we should identify a methodology based on historical responsibilities and respective capabilities, and which is adjusted for development needs, to define developed countries» commitments on key issues such

Summary of how they got to this finding: They use CMIP models which, if not outright flawed, have not proved their validity in estimated temperature levels in the 2030 to 2070 timeframe, are used
as the basis for extrapolations that assert the creation of more and more 3 - sigma «extreme events» of hot weather; this is despite the statistical contradiction and weak support for predicting significant increases in outlier events based on mean increases; then, based on statistical correlations between mortality and extreme heat events (ie heat waves), temperature
warming trends are conjured into an enlargement of the risks from heat events; risks increase significantly only by ignoring obvious adjustments and
mitigations any reasonable community or person would make to adapt to
warmer weather.

Because of the long atmospheric lifetime of some of the main greenhouse gases, such
