I personally have done at about 350 to 400
water births myself so I feel very experienced and qualified to answer your questions.
I also used water, I suppose it's no secret that water is good for pain relief, with
water births so popular.
I was so interested in having
a water birth so any amount of travel was worth it to me with the end goal of birthing in what is known as The ABC room (Alternative Birthing Center).
I planned for
a water birth so the attendants were filling up the tub but my labor was progressing quickly and my blood pressure was abnormally high.
And we planned to have
a water birth so we had it in a tub and over home birth surprise ready and set aside for this birth.

birth, I had to take 3 doses of medication while pregnant
so that I could eat.my morning sickness was
so bad I couldn't even keep
water down.I made the choice to do that
so I didn't starve my unborn child, but I only took what was neccessary to keep something down, and then had no other drugs and plan not to until my son is done bf.And as for the «natural» baby, carcinogens are EVERYWHERE, even in your organic food.in this industrialized world you can not get away from them, and to attack other moms for their choices is a sad statement of your morality and on how your child's persoality is going to turn out.also, having multiple kids is definately more demanding than one.
The thing I never understood about waterbirth (I mean, aside from wanting to sit in tepid bloody poop
water) is that the NCB people are always talking about how giving
birth on your back is
so unnatural and etc. and yet there they are, on their backs in the tub.
To bypass this restriction, Nestle organises «study days» at nearby hotels, sometimes with speakers on other topics (such as
water birth), to entice health workers
so it can promote products to them.

In England, a
water birth has become
so common, it is considered an option for childbirth and not an alternative.
Water -
births have become very popular these days and
so has the idea of not using any drugs at all.
In our study, over half the women who gave
birth at home did
so in
water.
I stay home with my kids right now, and I homeschool, but when they are grown I will probably go back to school, and obstetrics is a field I've considered just
so that maybe I can make a bit of a good difference, and give women the best of both worlds (like a
water birth, in a hospital with a doula or midwife with an OB on staff or back up in case something went wrong.)
Beat in mind that mothers who plan to give
birth in
water often feel like stepping out of the birthing pool at the last minute to give
birth,
so one can never predict the outcome.
You skewed my words regarding «managing» my
birth... the whole point of the midwife is to alert the mother of the possibility of a problem, just like an OB
so then a proper course of action can be taken... I was merely saying that they don't think of
birth as a medical emergency from the beginning, requiring things that are unnecessary, like constant monitoring because it's easier than intermittent monitoring, or restricting maternal intake because the doctor could get puked on, or have fecal matter excreted during delivery is selfish (and yes, I know, the mother could aspirate, but the rate of that is low too... and I'm not saying they need to eat a steak dinner... but denying a drink of
water, or a popsicle during a long labor is just ridiculous, as is rushing a natural process for convenience sake.)
I was also classes as high risk
so wasn't allowed a
water birth as had to be monitored.
I was
so much more «present» for this
birth than my first
water birth, which was also swift and peaceful, however, I must have mentally escaped to «labor land» with my first.
i'm glad that you had satisfying hospital
births and received the care you and your babies needed, but i do think that we as women should know that we have other options besides a hospital
birth or that we can have a
water birth or that we don't have to lie on our backs (the worst position for birthing) as some doctors require, if that's what we
so choose.
I may have not
so nicely snapped at her... but I got my
water birth room!
When we moved to New York in the»80s, it was impossible to find a midwife who would take our insurance,
so I went to a doctor who worked with midwives and pioneered using the Leboyer (precursor to
water birth) in New York.
So like I said, it wasn't a movie - worthy,
water - breaking moment for me, but a calm and swift part of my natural
birth.
So before you decide on giving
birth in
water in a hospital ask your midwife or a doctor about the guidelines of
water birth for a specific hospital.
So if your goal of giving

water is to be as natural as possible, to have less (or none) medical intervention you might want to consider giving
birth in
water at home.
So we have the problem of attrition, lets say you try to correct for this by keeping the women in the study in the
water birth group.
