My sweet
potatoes were a bit old / dry so I added about half a cup
of water and came
out with much shorter brownies than yours but it was still delicious.
I use the trivet that came with my Instant Pot to keep the sweet
potatoes out of the
water.
All I did for the crust was shred 3/4
of a huge sweet
potato in the food processor, squeeze the
water out and mix it with 2 tbsp
of lard.
Just a tip: if using ffresh shredded
potatoes, they have a lot
of water in them so press them against a colander or strainer before you use them (just like when making fresh hashbrowns) to get all the
water out.
Place the
potato mixture in the center
of a large clean kitchen towel, gather up the ends, and firmly squeeze
out as much
water as possible, fluffing the
potato mixture and squeezing again several times.

potato starch at the bottom
of the drainage back into the
potatoes
Soaking pulls
out starch, which reduces the
water content
of the
potatoes: less
water, less steaming in the oven.

water before boiling to allow the potassium to leach

water.
I only had a very small amount
of water left in the pan after I cooked the
potatoes and carrots but I did use a slotted spoon to scoop them
out so I didn't blend the cooking
water into the sauce.
It's easy and if you work fast peeling, and use heat resistant gloves when the
potatoes come
out of the boiling
water (so you don't have to wait for them to cool to score them) it doesn't take a lot
of prep time.

One thing you have to watch
out for here is the moisture in the turnips, you don't want that to clump up your dough so here's what you can do: put the turnips into your
potato ricer one by one after they're cooked and peeled and just squeeze them enough to get rid
of the
water, it works surprisingly well.
I did add a bit
of water to create a smoother consistency, and discovered added
water also evens
out some
of the starches from foods like
potatoes and squash, which tend to give my baby a gag reflex.

And also, my secret superpower is the ability to make delicious soup
out of, say,
water and a
potato.
reheating rice, beans and
potatoes does not harm the RS3, in fact, it increases it by driving more
water out of the retrograded structure.
Baking the
potatoes really brings
out their sweetness and also helps to retain more nutrients than the traditional method
of boiling them when leaches
out a lot
of the
water soluble vitamins.

After that she cooks a
potato dinner, gathers
water from the well, and one
