What I can commend is those heightened touches of abstract beauty that emerge from the film's evocation of nature: the green glow of fireflies in a blue night, the swirls of waving grass, a dash through a field of white wading birds.

Sometimes this was easy, all you had to do was step onto it, the train was plush and comfortable and full of people smiling at you in a hush, and a conductor who punched your ticket and tousled your head with his big hand, saying, Ain't you pretty, ain't you the prettiest girl now, lucky lady taking a big train trip with your daddy, while you sank into the dreamy softness of your seat and sipped ginger ale from a can and watched the world float in magical silence past your window, the tall buildings of the city in the crisp autumn light and then the backs of the houses with laundry flapping and a crossing with gates where a boy was waving from his bicycle, and then the woods and fields and a single cow eating grass.......

The fields were garbed in brown stubble; thick clumps of fescue grass keeled over, and tall stems of annual and biennial weeds gone by waved in the light breeze.

As you watch that intro, the grass waving in the wind, not only looks like lush grass over an open field, but the fine texture of a coloured chalk, mixed with a watercolour backing... blending colours into one, but then defining each individual detail.

On top of all of this, the color palette has been greatly improved, so we can walk through fields of waving neon grass toward a bright pink sunset, as we were promised in early promotional material.

The remaining projects, all loans, include Yvonne Domengue's red painted steel sculpture Wind Waves (2009), which starting in January will spend a year on a park island east of the Sam Houston sculpture; Orly Genger's football - field - length painted rope sculpture Boys Cry Too (2009), which will lay directly on the grass at Brays Bayou Shore for a year starting in March; and MicroPavilion: ReFRAME x FRAME, which is billed as «a motion - triggered sound installation based on environmental data» by the University of Houston Graduate Design / BUILD Studio.
