kids love workbooks and online
classes - well, it's possible you'll have a lot more time
in your day to do
other things if you choose to homeschool this
way.
CHELSEA POWELL: For me I think I kind of found it through two different
ways and the we took a like a you know a
class for our birth and the
other couples
in the
class the
other moms
in the group where just people that were we were all similar
in age and just you know it was all our first
kids and kind of similar life paths and what we were how we were wanting to like birth our children and we kind of raise them.
The issue with that is that if we have students
in a classroom who are ranging from below Low, barely able to read and make sense of their text, to students who are reading at this Advanced level, it is very difficult for a teacher to be able to teach to a
class with that wide a variety of literacy levels, and the problem is that these children who are not reaching the Low benchmark or are at the Low benchmark are, if you like, starting the race quite a long
way behind all of these
other kids.
A typical
class might start with a quiz, a quick journal write, or some
other way for the teacher to check
in on where
kids are.
On the
other hand, every
kid in science
class will have to find
ways to move successfully through life.
In many situations there is no
other way than to pull
kids out of those knowledge building
classes.
