The DSCC's unusually heavy spending against Sestak can be attributed in part to the belief among some party leaders that he would make
a weak general election candidate against Republican incumbent Sen. Patrick J. Toomey.
That said, the same reason he is doing so well in these Republican primaries is also what makes him probably
the weakest general election candidate that we've seen since (Democrat) George McGovern, if he is in fact the nominee.
