Gillius Thunderhead has great attack power but little magic, Axe Battler the Barbarian has average attack and magic skill, and Tyrus Flare has great magical power but
weaker weapon attacks.

Keep in mind that, depending on your
weapon type, you will have varying luck with your
attacks and their effectiveness against Nergigante's
weak points.
The classes do not play terribly differently; fortunately the core game mechanics — having a melee
weapon and ranged
weapon, different
weak and powerful
attacks for each, consumables and grenades — make the game fun to play regardless.
Avalanche
Attacks will activate most often when you
attack an enemy with a
weapon that they are
weak against but can also randomly occur when a character lands a critical strike.
From the first game to this one I have tried different
weapons and loved each — lance is my current
weapon of choice, as the ability to block almost anything and
attack through enemy skin to
weaker points inside really appeals to me.
Even if the
attacks differ in their execution, each
weapon still has a quick /
weak attack, a strong
attack, a more «unique»
attack and a special
attack.
If you want to be a bit risky and don't have any decorations that boost the Dragon
Attack skill, then you can wear the Death Stench Bowels which further makes you
weak to dragon but boosts your dragon element
attacks and has the Focus skill which increases the gauge fill rate of your long sword and other
weapons as well as the charge rate of your hammer or other
weapons.
All of these bosses have
weak points that you can
attack through certain
weapons or mechanics.
The Anjanath is very
weak to water so be sure to bring a
weapon with the water element as well as armor with skills that boost water
attack like the Jyura Vambraces.
Weapon affinity can also be a negative number, and in these instances, you may find that your
weapon is landing
weaker attacks than it really should.
