The character design is rather varied as characters are referred to as assets as your character is sitting in an immersion chair in full control over an asset
with different assets effectively having their own
loadouts including a specific
weapon to begin
with, unique abilities and enhancements such as Collene Deckard classed as an Assassin
with a 20 % increase in critical shots to enemies and a 10 % increase in speed who also has a Nanofiber Shadow Skin which makes the assassin practically invisible when in shadow as well as being equipped
with a burst rifle and a laser pulse.
Finally, equip up to five attachments and an optic while customizing nearly every aspect of your
loadout with the new Gunsmith, then tap the power of the
Weapon Paintshop to give your
weapon a signature look.

A new type of difficulty is thrown at you in the form of strict
loadout limits,
with certain missions asking you to select a
weapon and forcing you to stick
with it until completion.
Modifying and updating gameplay is to be expected, particularly when there has been a 12 year gap between titles, but simply being handed power
weapons and allowing everyone to run rampant through the map
with them did not feel like Doom, it felt like Halo or Call of Duty, particularly
with loadouts being present.
Players may choose one of seven basic
loadouts, from duel - wielding, carrying two handed
weapons, or carrying a lightweight arm in conjunction
with a torch or shield.
If the Lancer was retired there could be a fuss given the
weapon's iconic nature in the series, but the exact same
loadout used and presented in the same way on the same units versus the same opponents in a mode fans have been using for years

with next to no AI and while you can choose 4 different guns in your
loadout, I found that just choosing 4 of the same gun made for the easiest
loadout and many earlier
weapons just become useless as you unlock more powerful variants.
Teamed up
with AI - controlled allies, you'll arm yourself
with your favorite assortment of
weapons and abilities, carefully tailoring your
loadout for the battle ahead.
The default
loadouts are pretty sparse at the start, but if you stick
with one
weapon over time, it'll accumulate experience that feeds into a leveling system that governs special unlocks for that gun, such as suppressors, sights, extended magazines, and other useful
weapon boosts.
But when you start tooling around
with various
weapons and Star Cards, you can come up
with some pretty creative
loadouts.
Select Piers for a slightly different
weapons loadout than Chris including a sniper rifle
with thermal scope.
Choosing an agility - based
loadout from a selection of pre-leveled characters, my character came equipped
with an interesting
weapon — a one - handed sword
with an alternate mode that split the blade into two swords for dual wielding.
