It has been inspiring me to
wear more neutral colors lately, which I was always afraid washed my skin tone out.
When winter rolls around, we tend to
wear more neutral colors like black, gray, and brown.
Not exact matches
Obviously, most people think of basic
neutrals like brown when they think of fall
colors, but you should be
wearing more than just brown all season long.
I very much consider myself someone who
wears neutrals much
more often than
color, but it never hurts to add some bright
colors for the spring and summer.
I've been
wearing more neutrals / solids than I ever have before, but I still love a good dose of
color.
I used to love
wearing colorful clothes in bold shades but within the past year I felt
more and
more drawn towards
neutral colors like beige & brown, black & white (okay this is nothing new), and of course warm pastel shades.
Wearing a soft,
more neutral color with a bit of sheen is a great way to keep things natural looking with a bit of added glam.
As a result, most of my makeup looks tend to be
more neutral and tame so when I get an opportunity to really play with makeup (a.k.a. the kids are at the grandparents) I like to break out all of those
colors I don't
wear everyday!
This jacket's
more neutral sage / olive
color would be great to
wear with brighter
colored blouses or shirts.
Unfortunately, once the snowy weather hits, I will have to swap it out for something
more substantial... but thanks to the light
neutral color, I know I will get tons of
wear out of it again in the spring.
Try an unexpected
color, like this camel look I
wore to a meeting this week (I recommend trying this out with
more neutral colors — grey, navy and olive will all work nicely, but a bold
color like bright yellow or red might be too much... make sure you test out the look in your mirror first).
I like to
wear basic tops in
neutral colors, blazers,
neutral tights & simple shoes when I
wear my leathers but when I
wear my
more traditional wardrobe staples I spice things up a bit... higher heels, colorful and / or printed tops & sometimes even patterned tights.
While I tend to
wear more neutral tones during spring and summer, I love to go for rich
colors when fall rolls around.
Neutral shades of tans and whites have always been a big majority of the
colors in my closet, but lately I am
wearing lots of blues and
more black than usual.
If you are not comfortable with
wearing colors that are too pretty (e.g. pastel shades) or do not want to look too girly or cute, a good solution will be to mix pretty
colors with other
more neutral shades.
I'm dying to
wear colors lately, I guess it's my way to feel a bit
more springsh... so this look contains both florals and

wear colors and brighten the environment a little bit as winter is
more about
neutrals and pastel and monochrome because it's always about adding
more and
more layers in our clothing.
I invest in great quality, classic, versatile pieces that I can
wear for
more than one season so I gravitate toward a
neutral color palette.

more into
neutral colors, but this
color is so gorgeous I may actually
wear it on a date night.

wear only a bold
color and i pair it with
neutrals.
If you want to
wear it for formal occasions then opt for a smaller bag that is
more structured,
neutral and solid
colored, reminding you of a classic tote bag.
Another point worth noting: I'm
more about pieces that will last me a looooong time, and I just feel like I'll never get sick of
wearing something that's
neutral as opposed to something that is a bright, bold
color.
When I say
neutral, it's not in the same vein as the
more subdued shades of black, navy, grey but as the pop of
color basic that can be
worn with absolutely everything and by everyone....
Some people
wear nothing but
neutrals, while some like
more bold
colors and some like to go full glam or switch it up between the three.
While my closet will disagree, I am a very
neutral person when it comes to buying clothes, but I have been challenging myself to
wear more color lately.
But, as always, there are caveats - I would personally stick to one bright
color that
wears well with other
colors and
neutrals (like cobalt blue, baby pink, or butter yellow, above) and
more conservative patterns, like florals, geometrics, or painterly abstracts.
