Granted, some items may need a touch up here and there, but for the most
part, my
closet consists
of ready - to -
wear garments that don't need to be ironed.
Instead
of ignoring those pieces, I pushed them to one side, instead moving the items I do plan to
wear a lot into the most accessible
part of my
closet.
Part of the problem when we look in our
closets and think we have nothing to
wear is our perspective.
I planned to
wear it to a conference at the time and end up not attending the conference AKA it never got
worn and remained in the back
part of my
closet.
I
wear them a ton and consider them an essential
part of my
closet.
What turned from one
closet clean out to the next, and then the next, revealed that majority
of the clothing I hang on to wasn't anything I was
wearing, but felt guilty to
part with.
International Women's Day is just 2 days away and in honor
of celebrating women I wanted to write a post that I know could be helpful to all women out there - what to do with those clothes in your
closet that you never
wear, but you're not ready to
part with just quite yet!
It is the brainchild
of sisters Denise and Dianne, who were looking for a way to
part with their most adored, but rarely
worn items in their
closet in a sustainable way.
I'm going to try to
wear some more dresses this month because that
part of my
closet has been neglected.
I look silly
wearing heels so I only
wear it occasionally but for the most
part, dresses rule my
closet but not as much as it used to be since I left most
of my dresses at my mother's house in California.
Where I gave away almost all my clothes, shoes, purses, books, knick - knacks, games, kitchenware, and squeezed down into 1 / 3rd
of a 3 foot wide
closet, my husband has 6 boxes
of t - shirts alone, at least that many boxes
of baseball caps, some he's never
worn, and tools and
parts for never - done projects and model cars still in the boxes, and his collection
of 20 + Monopoly games and who knows what - all — all stuffed into our rent house's tiny basement, garage and a small storage unit.
