weeks of Keto!
Although it's more common during the first few
weeks of a keto diet (increased demean for electrolytes), you may experience it at any point, if your electrolyte intake (sodium, magnesium, potassium) is too low.
After 2 - 3
weeks of keto, my keto sticks (urine sticks) were not working anymore even though I was only consuming 20 grams of carbs per day.

I make variations
of this
keto porridge at least once a
week, sometimes with turmeric or vanilla instead
of cinnamon.
I have read a lot about how a
keto diet could be beneficial for endurance athletes like me who race long - distance triathlons (Olympic and Half - Ironman distances), and I have already experienced this during my training sessions over this past couple
of weeks, as I started doing some fasting and training in a fasted state: my energy levels are just never - ending, I can bike or run for hours, and there is no «hitting the wall» feeling anymore!

I'll be able to better judge how
keto and exercising work for me in a couple
of weeks, I guess, once my body has fully recovered from that break.
I was at the top
of my game, intermittent fasting and in intermittent ketosis, where I would dip into a
keto state for most the
week but then have a couple carb - load meals to replenish glycogen levels and teach my body to use both glucose and ketones for energy as best as I could.
Once you get
keto - adapted (usually 3 - 4
weeks), your body will switch from using glucose to using ketones and fatty acids as the main source
of energy.
In third
week, I learnt make variety
of Keto meals.
In an attempt to produce a

The difficult period
of keto - adaptation lasts one to two
weeks, but then you begin to experience the [positive] effects.
The symptoms
of Keto Flu / Low Carb Flu usually occurs in the first two
weeks of a person beginning a ketogenic diet and entering into ketosis.
After several
weeks, these side effects will subside as you become «
keto - adapted» and able to burn fat instead
of glucose for fuel.
A study in the Annals
of Internal Medicine found that obese patients with type - 2 diabetes who went
keto for just two
weeks improved insulin sensitivity by 75 %.
This is what people call the
Keto Flu, since at some point during the first two
weeks of a ketogenic diet people can feel lethargic, moody, have difficulty sleeping, and even develop bad breath.
That's a whole
week of people saying how good a
keto diet is for you.

of questions — do you recommend women on
keto count calories (except during shark
week)?
The good news is it usually takes just a few
weeks to become fully
keto - adapted, the worst
of which will be over in the first two
weeks of the diet.

You could also try a variation
of a
keto diet or maybe a 5:2 eating plan where two days
of the
week you have only a 500 calorie
keto meal.
It is well established in the «Art and Science
of Low Carbohydrate Living» (Phinney, Volek) that when one has become «
keto - adjusted» over the course
of 4 - 6
weeks of low carb / high fat and protein living, that the type
of keytones secreted in the urine, namely acetoacetic keytones, reduce in concentration.
By the time they become
keto - adapted, which takes 3 - 4
weeks, most
of them understand what to eat and what to avoid without any real need to measure the precise level
of ketone bodies.
Second - do you think that if one were to attempt to follow your recommendations
of eating approx. 100g carbohydrate a day that they should reduce that to about 50 or less for the first
week or two while they become
keto - adapted?
It's better to watch your macros for the first few
weeks, just to get an idea
of how to follow the
keto diet.
If I were to personally recommend a solution to Damian, I would either go and get a blood serum test, or do it the inexpensive way by kicking oneself out
of ketosis for a few days, and then using the
keto stix to watch your acetoacetic levels increase over the first couple
of weeks through your urine.
Hey all I started a
keto diet about 3 - 4
weeks ago and in that time I only have had a reading
of 0.7 mmol on the ketone metre.

weeks I have been eating less than 20 net carbs pr day, and drink A LOT

If you decide to go out drinking alcohol on
keto, eat fast food, candy and so on you've pretty much wasted your

I'm amazed by the unexpected health benefits
of the
keto diet that I've been following for almost 6

A: Adjustment can be hard and we recommend sticking with it, but adapting your training to allow for the effects
of keto - adaptation in the first few
weeks.
If you're in need

week, then feel no guilt eating a bowl
of strawberries topped with heavy cream.
After three
weeks, the acclimation (we call it «
keto - adaptation») is usually complete and brain cells start to thrive on a mix
of ketones and the small amount
of glucose produced in the liver via gluconeogenesis in the complete absence
of carbohydrates.
After just a few
weeks on a
keto woe, both were resolved, for both
of them.
As you become
keto - adapted you should look for a drop in urine ketone levels between 2 - 3
weeks of eating a ketogenic style diet.
