I'm going to recap the last 2
weeks of my training cycle for Brazos Bend 50k.

Experts say that two to three HIIT workouts per
week, along with one circuit -
training workout (that's a high - intensity workout in which you
cycle between different exercises with little to no rest in between), is a great target for safe, maintainable weight loss — not to mention a steady drumbeat
of endorphins, stress release, a healthier heart, and major gains in muscle strength.
A group
of sport scientists from Baylor University recently did a study on 20 students with solid weight
training experience and made them follow an identical lifting program for 4
weeks, followed by a two -
week layoff, after which they went through another four -
week training cycle.
Both groups performed free weight bench presses three days per
week, but the first group
trained continuously throughout a 24 -
week period and the second group performed two
cycles of a 3 -
week detraining period followed by a 6 -
week retraining period.
I generally
cycle through periods
of weight
training (8 - 12
weeks) and then bodyweight
training (4 - 6
weeks) depending on my goals, schedule and available time.
Cycle through it four times a
week (paired with 20 minutes
of high - intensity interval
training) to transform yourself this month.
Individuals then performed 30 minutes
of supervised aerobic exercise (rowing,
cycling or treadmill exercise) 3 times a
week for 12
weeks, or a combination
of resistance and aerobic
training (leg press and leg extension exercises plus aerobic exercise).
They began a fairly straightforward endurance
training program, working out twice a
week by jogging or
cycling at a moderately strenuous pace, equivalent to at least 65 percent
of their maximum aerobic capacity for 30 minutes.
Aim for at least 2 days
of strength
training per
week, and 1 - 2 days
of fast - paced interval
training — body weight circuits, sprints, swimming,
cycling — whatever gets you moving.
This is what I do, a variation
of it, 3x3x3 — have been
cycling this
training 8 - 12
weeks on, 1
week off again... all natural and breaking plateaus and best
of all look great, cleaner looking than the gear heads
I
cycle to and from work (15 km each way) and then do some form
of hiit or interval
training perhaps 3 - 4 times a
week, plus Pilates once or twice a
week but my thighs are getting pretty big.
The program is based on doing cardio
training 3 times per
week and can be applied to basically any method or apparatus
of cardio
training, be it running,
cycling, elliptical machine, stair machine, etc..
The majority
of your physical benefits received from
training may occur in the first ten
weeks or so
of the
training cycle.
one more question since im at it, im doing 35 mins
of interval
training on the treadmill (2 mins at 3mph then 1 min at 9mph and i
cycle that) 5 days a
week and weight
training 1 hour those 5 days as well (before i do my cardio)

In contrast, the Bulgarian method is characterised as involving much less planning and periodisation (being based around a simple 3 -
week loading
cycle) far fewer exercises (mainly just the competition lifts), and a high volume
of training performed at higher relative loads.
Once you have defined your
training goal, you need to look at your strength
training session structure, as well as the structure
of the
week and the
training cycle.
High intensity
training is short - lived and can produce mind - boggling bursts
of muscle for 4 -
weeks but needs to be
cycled on and off into a yearly plan.
A usual
week consists
of 2 - 3 sessions
of cardio — normally a mixture
of jogging,
cycling and cross
training.
You can choose to integrate some
of these alternative
training techniques with your weight
training routines on the same day, as alternative workouts on separate days
of the
week, or even as separate
training cycles where you try some
of these techniques for several
weeks at a time before
cycling back to a traditional weight
training workout.
Such was the case
of an excellent series
of studies by Prof. Paul Laursen and colleagues, who demonstrated how four
weeks of high - intensity interval
training, performed twice per
week, increased VO2max, peak
cycling power, and 40 km time - trial performance in a group
of highly
trained cyclists.

Then divide your
training in to six
week cycles that begin with low intensity
training, then moves on to six
weeks of medium exercise intensity
training and then six
weeks of super high intensive
training followed by six
weeks of complete rest before the
cycle is repeated.
I recommend you
cycle these in and out
of your
training for about 4 - 8
weeks at a time.
In short what i'll do is program in different main strength movements for a span
of 3 - 4
weeks which will serve as mini
cycles of strength
training.
If we're doing the Front Squat within a
cycle, I'll typically do sets
of 3 - 5 for the first
week, then depending on how overall progress goes, we may do sets
of 3 in
week 2 and 3, then depending on the experience and overall fitness level
of the athlete or client being
trained, we may get into some heavy 1's and 2's for
week 4.
Each time I focus on dialing both my peri
cycle and post
cycle supplementation, making sure to get hydrated, get plenty
of sleep, even though I have been
training pretty hard about 6 times per
week with 1 day
of rest.
Depending on where you are in the
Training Cycle, and the Athletes Needs, then a typical
week of Kenyan Running

weeks ago about a study on strength
training and
cycling efficiency, and a commenter asked why so many
of these studies are done on cyclists rather than runners.
I have no indication
of this disease myself (for now), but I found high intensity interval
training helps very much, 3 times a
week: 10 minutes: 2 min warm up 30 seconds high intensity (heart beat 220 - age) 90 second moderate, two more
cycle and 2 minutes moderate finishing off helps a lot.
In this study,
trained athletes underwent a 2 -
week overreaching
cycle after 8
weeks of intense resistance -
