Each
week, a handful
of games goes on
sale for anyone with a shiny gold membership.
For Christmas, Nintendo had a major
sale on the Nintendo eShop in Europe, with over 350
games on Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS discounted for a couple
of weeks.
The various Nintendo Switch
games in the Top 20 all saw an increase in
sales this
week (despite the drop in Hardware
sales), thanks to the public holiday on Friday and the recent launch
of Super Mario Odyssey bringing in lots
of new users hungry for
games.
Sony will continue two
of its most popular
sales tomorrow: Brothers: A Tale
of Two Sons and Worms: Battle Islands will become the latest
games to go free on PlayStation Plus, and «PS Vita Play» will kick off a four -
week series
of release discounts.
Another
game that saw a noticeable increase in
sales this
week is Animal Crossing: New Leaf — Welcome amiibo, which saw yet another increase: +21 % (that follows a 204 % increase during the launch
week of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp)!
Finally, The Legend
of Zelda: Breath
of the Wild is one
of the few Nintendo Switch
games that didn't see an increase in
sales, but it's almost exclusively due to the launch
of the Explorer's Edition last
week.
However, this is the first full
week of sales since Xenoblade Chronicles X released in Japan last
week, so we can see how much
of an impact the release
of the
game had on Wii U
sales.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is off to a great start: the
game soared to the top
of the
sales chart as the best selling title on the Switch eShop last
week, followed by previous
week's winner Rocket League, and Super Mario Odyssey at third.

Physical
sales of Dying Light are higher than Evolve and The Order: 1886, despite the
game only releasing on disc in the UK last

While the
games that are on

week aren't the best
games on the Vita right now, it's great to see some sort
of Playstation Plus and Playstation Vita interaction for once in the U.S.
Sony has kicked off the Golden

of up to 60 percent off PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Vita
games.

The rest
of the Top 20 isn't all that exciting this
week, with little (signifcant) movement:
sales are down for pretty much all
games, which isn't surprising at the beginning
of the month.
Week 1
sales for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Spirit
of Justice are pretty disappointing, for several reasons: it's the 15th Anniversary
of the Ace Attorney, and Capcom has been pushing the
game hard with many advertisements on TV, an anime series, various promotional campaigns (including free DLC and DLC case), and more.
The Japanese Wii U version
of the
game entered the Media Create
sales charts as the highest - selling
game in the country during its debut
week, with 69,675 copies sold, and was credited for a sharp increase in Wii U hardware
sales in the same period.
The second
week of the PSN holiday
sale offers even more discounts for PS4, PS3, and Vita
games, including Destiny 2, Call
of Duty: WWII, and a lot more.
In announcing those
sales figures two
weeks ago, Nintendo gave a couple
of possible explanations, saying, «This may be attributed to people who purchased both a limited edition
of the
game to collect and a second version to play.»
