I am collaborating with FTD flowers for today's post and knew that they would be the perfect fit because there truly is nothing more beautiful that a fresh bouquet of flowers arriving at your door during those first tiring few
weeks of motherhood.
The truth is we all want to bond with our little bundle of joy from the moment we lay eyes on him or her, but the first few
weeks of motherhood are very hard.
This can make a particular difference to those women who are far away from friends or family and who would otherwise be mostly alone in the early
weeks of motherhood.
I also stocked up on non-perishables so my pantry would not go bare in those first couple of
weeks of motherhood.
The first
weeks of motherhood can be stressful, overwhelming, and confusing.
The early
weeks of motherhood are tumultuous, and I was so confused and stressed that I couldn't keep my days straight.
In those first few
weeks of motherhood, it's easy to avoid things like blow - drying your hair or keeping your pedi up.
So far, not a single mom has followed up with me to say whether or not this information saved her in her first
weeks of motherhood as it would have for me, but I'm just going to assume it did.
But as someone who opted to formula feed her baby, I faced a lot of guilt (some self - inflicted because pervasive social stigmas are a bitch) and criticism from others in those first few

weeks of motherhood and truly beginning to find the joy in our new norm.
Critics may call this a failure, but if three
weeks of motherhood offer but a glint of the Ultimate Love coursing through the universe, then my heart could never bear it full force.

of traveling
motherhood; with Mother's Day coming up next Sunday, I've decided to dedicate each day this
week to offering tips, inspiration, and stories to all the traveling moms out there, especially those who might be questioning how, where, or why they can bring their children out into the world.

of the book, Finding Your Inner Mama: Women Reflect on the Challenges and Rewards
of Motherhood, edited by Eden Steinberg, which is available this

Looking back, the physical pain from delivering a baby feels insignificant compared to the hardship
of early
motherhood, especially the first 6

of my comfort zone at this point in pregnancy, but it's been a fun challenge to get dressed and enjoy this unique phase
of motherhood!
I have definitely been in the blur
of motherhood now where I have to constantly ask people what day
of the
week it is.
The movie certainly doesn't push the envelope as far as it could in this respect, much less (a la last
week's Tully) dive deeply into the questions it raises about how
motherhood impacts a person's sense
of identity.
Picking a publication date that fits with your personal life, relevant holidays (a book on
motherhood might be more easily promoted if it is published the
week of Mother's Day, for instance), and what else is on the market is a great way that indie authors get to plan their promotions early on to best suit their sales.
With Elina, I was interested in writing about new
motherhood, those very first few
weeks with a newborn — the shock and the rawness and the emotion and the exhaustion
of it.
One
of the more unusual titles going on sale this
week is Three Wishes: A Story
