If your baby has had a
solid weight gain pattern, you may not want to go back to return to feeding your older baby more frequently during the night.
Once your baby has established a
good weight gain pattern (at least 4 ounces per week, for babies under 4 months), you can stop waking baby to nurse and let him set his own pattern.
Weight gain patterns can also vary greatly baby - to - baby.
But remember, these are average figures for large numbers of women so just because
your weight gain pattern is different, it doesn't mean anything is wrong.
Once your baby returns back to her birth weight (typically babies lose around 7 % in the first week and should return to birth weight by the end of the second week) and has established a good
weight gain pattern, you can relax quite a bit.
Teachers who notice
a weight gain pattern in girls during the early grades can seek collaboration with school health personnel and, together, involve parents.
