My car's six - speed manual transmission is an absolute joy to use, with relatively short throws and a nicely
weighted clutch pedal.
The take - up of the well -
weighted clutch pedal is smooth as you feed the throttle, with the Cooper S Clubman in its default «MID» driving mode.
You feel connected to the transmission through a very crisp, mechanical shifter and a well -
weighted clutch pedal.
Aside from a medium -
weight clutch pedal, the ACR was a big softie once you were moving.
Not exact matches
The
clutch is nicely
weighted and easy to modulate, but it has a fairly long travel, and big shoes can get hung up moving between the
clutch and the dead
pedal.
The effort level of the
clutch pedal is perfectly
weighted, the engagement take - up is smooth and predictable, and the shift linkage itself is improbably light to manipulate, despite the chunky shift knob that serves as its crown.
I felt more involved, mostly because of its
clutch pedal and perfectly
weighted six - speed manual gearbox, and the conventional mechanical LSD.
The Porsche's
clutch pedal is moderately heavy while the gearshift and steering have a more purposeful
weight to them.
I remember struggling with our Four Seasons Jetta TDI's
clutch the first time I drove it, but now that it's familiar, I actually like the
weight, travel, and feel of the
pedal in this Golf TDI.
The car's power steering,
clutch, gear lever and brake
pedal all feel very carefully honed — well -

The
clutch is lightly
weighted with a takeup point in the middle of the
pedal stroke which is where I like it.
The
clutch pedal had good feel, though some may wish for a little more
weight.
Both the standard manual stick - shift gearbox and the optional Sportshift ™ transmission benefit from a modified
clutch and flywheel, reducing
clutch pedal efforts and delivering a 0.5 kg
weight saving, reducing the rotating masses within the powertrain, and hence increasing engine responsiveness.
