It always
feels weird because it can be «as hard as a rock» when you put your foot on the
brake to start it, and then the car roars to life and BAM!
It might
feel a bit
weird relying on the car to do all the work, but there's also a curious delight to hearing the car change down two or three gears at the last moment as you
brake hard for a corner — it's a bit like one of those confidence games where you have to close your eyes and trust someone to catch you as you fall backwards.
I don't doubt that this 328d would be able to return 40 + mpg on the highway during a road trip while delivering gobs of torque and doing it without a
weird -
feeling brake pedal, electric motors and a battery pack stuffed somewhere, most likely cutting into cargo space.
The 330e has plenty of speed for passing and takeoffs, and the
brakes don't have a lot of that
weird regen
feel, though there is a little.
The
brakes are well tuned and didn't
feel too squishy or
weird like a lot of hybrid vehicles do.
