from King Arthur Flour (my
go - to source for tested recipes), this fudge is smooth and rich, with an added touch of kosher salt to balance out all that sweetness for the
dark chocolate chips.
When I
went into my kitchen to investigate, I found a 1/2 jar of almond butter leftover
from a cookie order, 1/4 of a Trader Joe's Pound Plus
dark chocolate bar, about 10 half - bags of nuts, and 24 ounces -LRB-!)
I was
going to use white initially as it's nice to have a pale sponge
from time to time, but in the end I thought a few flecks of very
dark bitter
chocolate would help take the edge off the sweetness.
So when I
go on roadtrips... and my sweet tooth speaks up... and a square of extra
dark chocolate won't cut it... I grab an Almond Joy
from the closest gas station.

The frosting will
go from dark brown to pale
chocolate brown as the mixture gets more fluffy.
The extra
dark chocolate has that familiar bitter quality that
dark chocolate has, but I think it
goes really well with the sweetness
from the muffin.
So
go ahead, have that square of
dark chocolate — it'll keep you
from chowing down a pint of ice cream later.
This research certainly doesn't justify
going out on
dark chocolate binges, but it does seem that a few squares of good - quality
dark chocolate with a high percentage cocoa solids (80 % or more), or a cacao drink, can help boost our mood and may be enjoyed in moderation as part of a healthy balanced diet rich in polyphenols
from other sources, especially vegetables and fruits.

Once you remove your granola
from the oven, top with 3/4 cup
dark chocolate chips (I won't tell if you
go cuckoo for cocoa puffs and add more) and chopped pecans while it's still hot.
