There is an added element to all of this that really causes confusion — it's
what happens when you try to book an award with an
airline that doesn't charge «surcharges» and you then select flights on that
airline's
partner that does.
What hadn't changed, up until now, was the amount of Avios and Elite Qualifying Miles travellers could collect by flying on British Airways and crediting to
partner airlines (e.g. American Ai
airlines (e.g. American
AirlinesAirlines).
Ultimate Rewards, Membership Rewards, ThankYou Points, and so on all offer this option but also have the ability to transfer directly to
airline and hotel
partners at
what is often a higher effective rate.
