Years ago I discovered Doug Pagitt's blog and

The suggestion here
is that the dominant
interest unifying every course
in a theological curriculum ought to
be the
interest guiding one of the three sorts of theology (constructive, critical practical, or apologetic), that
is,
interest reflected
in one of the three ranges of questions congregations invite about their construals of the Christian
thing (
What is it?
I have proposed that fragmentation
in a theological course of study could
be overcome if each of its constituent courses
were unified by a controlling
interest in one of the three questions Christian congregations invite about their construals of the Christian
thing (
What is it?
Rather, the proposal
is that study of every subject matter that
is selected for study (using whatever academic disciplines
are appropriate)
be shaped and guided by an
interest in the question:
What is that subject matter's bearing on, or role
in, the practices that constitute actual enactments,
in specific concrete circumstances, of various construals of the Christian
thing in and as Christian congregations?
Instead, its
interest is in that research which
is constantly at work to find out as much as possible about
what makes
things tick, whether.
Interesting: Your statement: «The belief that the unfathomable intricacies of every living
thing on our earth formed themselves completely at random seems just as fantastical to me as believing
in a Creator»
is not an accurate reflection of
what evolutionary theory posits.
Because both systematic and moral theology
are defined by
interests in the integral unity of the «Christian
thing» and the unity of theological inquiry, neither of them should
be thought of as the «middle discipline» (cf. 50 - 51) between historical theology's formulations of
what is normatively or faithfully «Christian» and practical theology's application of those formulations to practice.
«People who write

Also,

One
thing does seem peculiar though, and I may
be mistaken here, why would an organization that doesn't really buy into the miracles of Jesus, e.g. healings and resurrection, and by extension the divinity or prophetic nature of Jesus, e.g. Jesus as an «itinerant... sage», really
be all that
interested in determining exactly
what Jesus said?
The
interesting thing is that Joseph Smith allegedly corrected the Bible
in what is called The Inspired Version, though it
is not used by the LDS church.
It
's interesting to think about morals and how we
are such moral creatures.There
are very few conversations, especially when the subject
is about a particular behavior
in ourselves or others, that don't involve a value judgement. We
're even willing to bend the rules as to
what is right / wrong... sometimes stealing and lying can
be good
things....
I find so many
things interesting and I want to pursue
what I really

what God wills for my life, but how do I figure out
what those
things are?
So please know that the first

is to show an
interest in the parents.
I know that you

what I say.
Jeremy i
am surprised you never countered my argument Up till now the above view has
been my understanding however
things change when the holy spirit speaks. He amazes me because its always new never old and it reveals why we often misunderstand scripture
in the case of the woman caught
in adultery.We see how she
was condemned to die and by the grace of God Jesus came to her rescue that seems familar to all of us then when they
were alone he said to her Go and sin no more. This
is the point we misunderstand prior to there meeting it
was all about her death when she encountered Jesus something incredible happened he turned a death situation into life situation so from our background as sinners we still
in our thinking and understanding dwell
in the darkness our minds
are closed to the truth.
In effect
what Jesus
was saying to her and us
is chose life and do nt look back that
is what he meant and that
is the walk we need to live for him. That to me
was a revelation it
was always there but hidden.Does it change that we need discipline
in the church that we need rules and guidelines for our actions no we still need those
things. But does it change how we view non believers and even ourselves definitely its not about sin but its all about choosing life and living. He also revealed some other
interesting things on salvation so i might mention those on the once saved always saved discussion.Jeremy just want to say i really appreciate your website because i have not really discussed issues like this and it really
is making me press
in to the Lord for answers to some of those really difficult questions.regards brentnz

What I

The world offers a lot of different definitions and interpretations, but for one
interested in what God has to say about it, a biblical study of the word makes a few
things very clear — and for starters, makes clear
what it
's not.
To claim that some one of the class of particular human
interests is necessarily exemplified
in all human activity, even, perhaps, that
what we might call a distinctively «soteriological» or «existential» feature consisting
in a desire for self - fulfillment or authenticity
is necessarily exemplified
in all such particular
interests is one
thing, the characterization of any and all such features and
interests as «ideological» another.
It
's interesting that Pope Francis» people pick and choose
what they like to hear and they ignore — you know he'll say something that
is kind of paradigm - shifting
in terms of getting people to think differently, but people don't read the full context of
what he says about family and about life issues, about a lot of
things.
Parents
are urged to develop an atmosphere of mutual respect; to communicate on levels of fun and recreation as well as on discipline and advice; to allow a child to learn «through natural consequences» — that
is, by experiencing
what happens when he dawdles
in the morning and
is permitted to experience the unpleasantness and embarrassment of
being late to school; to encourage the child and spend time with him playing and learning (positively) rather than spending time lecturing and disciplining (negatively), since the child who
is misbehaving
is often merely craving attention and if he gets it
in pleasant, constructive ways, he will not demand it
in antisocial ways; to avoid trying to put the child
in a mold of
what the parent thinks he should do and
be, or
what other people think he should do and
be, rather than
what his natural gifts and tendencies indicate; to take time to train the child
in basic skills — to bake a cake, pound a nail, sketch or write or play a melody — including those
things the parents know and do well and
are interested in.
