Create «moments»
when coaching your teachers.
Many instructional coaches found great success as classroom teachers but struggle
when coaching teachers to make dramatic changes in their practice, especially when focused on students who have had a history of failure in school.
When I coach teachers in how to teach presentation techniques, I bring in several copies of Favorite Nursery Rhymes from Mother Goose; The Cat in the Hat; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; Where the Wild Things Are and the Polar Express.
As an administrator, I have started using formative assessment strategies
when I coach my teachers, but this has meant moving away from other less effective ones.
