Does the game merit the universal acclaim it's getting, or is this a case of «Bioshock Infinite Syndrome,»
where game reviewers have such a low bar for reviewing games that any game that is pretty and is actually trying to do something vaguely new gets a 10?

reviewers played Tales because this is the most soulless empty bland boring

Definitely seems like one of those
games where most
reviewers didn't put the effort in to actually learn the intricacies of its gameplay so they complain about difficulty spikes, etc..
Same goes with all those
games where reviewers say «This
game is great!
In the trad book world, hardcover books are given freely to
reviewers, but in Amazon's world,
where a free video
game or computer may be given to a
reviewer rather than a mere book, it can seem like a bribe.
That is
where these
games show courage, and I think also that is what is very much appreciated by
reviewers who have to play the same kind of
games over and over.
If you don't think your
game is [not] completely finished, then you can upload it to the «Beta» or «Work in Progress» sections
where the
reviewers and the community are more understanding of you as a developer.
I think a
reviewer's opinion is obviously a part of whether they like a
game or not, but they have to be able to objectively qualify why they think the way they do and then weigh that against some sort of criteria that should be set down by the editors (
where applicable) to come to a final conclusion on the
game's score.
There have been multiple complaints about some of the FPS sections
where the
game forces you into the fixed camera point from Samus» perspective until you can find whatever thing you're supposed to find, a task multiple
reviewers claim took them over ten minutes in places.
Because software such as this lacks traditional video
game mechanics, then my job as a
reviewer is to scrutinize the story because that is
where the emphasis lies.

Now that I have actually played it, I can see
where these
reviewers were coming from, but I still quite enjoy this
game.
