We didn't do much - a little work for me and the hubs, a lot of fighting for the
kids - they are at that
age where they just annoy the heck out of each
other and it's so frustrating!
As I note in the blog, if a woman has spent a good part of her life caretaking
others — a husband (or husbands),
kids,
aging parents — we do get to a point
where we feel it's «my time.»
Even today, with our
kids are at elementary school
age, we still have to negotiate our different cultures, sometimes opting for one or the
other, depending on the situation and
where we are at the time.
In an
age where some families are jetting around the world while
others stick to staycations, some
kids never have the chance to leave their own city or state.
And she's at the
age where she wants to do things by herself... things like climbing the stairs... and
other activities little girls aren't supposed to be doing, but she wants to do because she sees her older brothers doing big
kid things that she wants to try too.
School is often the place
where kids first begin to create bonds with
other children in their
age group.
CHELSEA POWELL: For me I think I kind of found it through two different ways and the we took a like a you know a class for our birth and the
other couples in the class the
other moms in the group
where just people that were we were all similar in
age and just you know it was all our first
kids and kind of similar life paths and what we were how we were wanting to like birth our children and we kind of raise them.

Exercising both our body and mind are important to stay fit and healthy, but in an
age where computers and the internet dominate our lives, it's increasingly difficult to get our
kids out and about, getting the amount of exercise they need and focussing their minds on something
other than a screen.

We do not have a shelter and all dogs are in private homes
where wonderful people — our fosters — help their foster dogs recover from their past, learn household manners, firm up house training, learn basic obedience commands and check out how they do with
kids of various
ages,
other dogs and cats.
This created a very distinct memory for me: I was living with my parents at the time but was slowly transitioning to that point
other middle - class
kids my
age were,
where you still live with your parents, but buy most of your own food, pay for your own gas, etc..
An equalization of time is beneficial
where the parents live proximate to each
other,
where the parents both share positive parenting traits, work schedules can accommodate 50/50 time, the
age and circumstances of the
kids favor shared time, and myriad
other factors that can benefit a true shared parenting environment.
