There have been cases where rabid bats have gotten into people's homes or indoor cats have accidentally gotten outdoors, potentially exposing themselves to rabid animals.
There is no reason to panic because 94 % of the bats submitted for testing are not rabid, but it is wise to avoid situations where a bat may sneak up on you (Table 3).
