It is impossible to definitively know
whether you are carrying twins (or multiple babies) by simply gauging how you feel or going off of what a
home pregnancy test shows.
You'll also know
whether it's time to try that
home pregnancy test because you'll notice if you skip a period.
Regardless
whether you choose a birthing center or
home birth, you may have already made up your mind to have a doula or midwife as part of your
pregnancy and birthing experience.
The problem I see is that direct entry midwives in the United States will often attend
home births that do not fit these criteria; while insisting that
home birth is at least as safe as hospital birth, many will attend twin births, breech births, births after 41 weeks, births of women who have pre-existing or
pregnancy - induced disease, births after two or more previous caesarean sections, and births of women whose labor has been jump - started rather than begun spontaneously (
whether by herbs, prolonged nipple stimulation, the breaking of her water, or illicit use of medications).
Though not a telltale sign of
pregnancy (body temperature can rise for various reasons, not just
pregnancy), it could give a woman some advance knowledge as to
whether she is pregnant before actually receiving a positive on a
home pregnancy test.
