Ten months into our conversion journey, and still wondering how we could be experiencing the grace
of God
while in an objective
state of sin, we decided to petition the Church to investigate the validity
of my first marriage.

Scripture is clear that
while adultery is a
sin, it is forgivable, for people like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and David lived
in a lifelong
state of adultery, but they were forgiven and accepted by God.
But few
of us would endorse those elements
of tradition that baptize patriarchal oppression, endorse violence against women, oppress lesbians and gays, exalt perpetual virginity as the superior
state, or declare that heterosexual rape is a lesser
sin than masturbation (on the view that the latter act contradicts nature
while the former act,
while also sinful, is
in accordance with nature) The postbiblical tradition, like Scripture itself, does not provide one coherent, consistent sexual ethic.
Sin, which is a matter
of antisocial behavior, results
in repeated unpleasant reincarnations into this present world,
while the ultimate
state is the abolition
of either existence or desire (Nirvana).
While Sin and colleagues (2014) also
state the importance
of social support
in their exploration
of positive interventions, finding that social support can help increase well - being for depressed individuals
in a sustainable way.
