The black is solid throughout the tile so if it chips or has an exposed edge you don't see white.

Try throwing a slip cover in there, it will do the tango across your lovely white tile, leave all spots on your slipcovers, and even with the soak cycle, some numnuts engineer decided to lock the machine while it is going, so I can't even see what the problem is.
