I am confused about treatment for a very small rescued Brussels Griffon
who is heartworm positive.

There
are many holistic vets
who don't recommend using
heartworm meds but the pro-health approach to parasite prevention isn't all that popular... yet.

are in the program because they have
been neglected, abandoned, and abused: and that includes previous owners not giving them
heartworm pills or other medical care.

Heartworm is easily preventable, but, unfortunately, we shelter many strays
who suffer from the disease.

Dogs in the US
who are rescued from Southern states have a high risk of infection, so it
