@fimilleur from time
to time mankind experiences the presence of God, there have been and continue
to be
events that testify
to the presence of Him.The multiple gods you continually point
to have an unique difference from the God
who first revealed His presence
to ancient men i.e. the Hebrews. The particular gods you mention roman etc. are all man
made and in many instances men themselves i.e. hercules, but even the ancient greeks realized the limitations of their understanding and included an «unknown» God in their worship structure.many cultures did likewise, having a glimpse of God but not the fullness of understanding that was given
to the Jews.Whether or not «we» believe, does not alter the fact that God exists as an unique being, whether or not «we» acknowledge Him «we» will stand before Him.You do not choose
to understand, but we are actually standing in His presence right now as He is much bigger than the doctrines and knowledge man ascribes
to Him those things you find so questionable are the misconceptions and misrepresentations of God
made by men throughout history.

This is going
to be a shock — the men
who actually wrote all the parts in the Bible and
made changes
to the infrastructure of Christianity — including Constantine circa 300 AD in Rome — were not afraid of unleashing the occasional metaphor... in other words the Bible is not entirely literal — no, you are supposed
to use your imagination... In many cases the disciples didn't actually witness an
event — it was long distance and time altered hearsay — God figured Man could handle that... So don't be afraid
to dilute - God's cool with that — as long as you do the right thing in life — feed the poor, help your neighbor, don't kill or covet - just be a good and decent person - smile, love and give generously... God doesn't need robots — He wants thoughtful individuals
who help!!!
Many since Kant have doubted whether God,
who gave us language, actually uses language
to communicate with uswhether, that is, God's «speaking»

made aware of his presence.

Theologians
who have quite properly protested against the notion that God was such that he needed
to be
made friendly and available
to his creatures by reason of some
event (in this case the death of Christ) which opened up for him this possibility, have failed
to see that in this inadequate and often misleading way of speaking, there was an insight of which they should have taken due account.
But before we come
to that discussion, it will be useful for us
to turn our attention
to the question of «resurrection» — first, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, about which so much of the earliest Christian writing found in the New Testament, and so much of the Christian experience of discipleship, turns; and second,
to consider the point of the continuing Christian affirmation that those
who have responded
to the
event of Christ are themselves
made «sharers in Christ's resurrection».
It is, in particular, the second of evangelicalism's two tenets, i. e., Biblical authority, that sets evangelicals off from their fellow Christians.8 Over against those wanting
to make tradition co-normative with Scripture; over against those wanting
to update Christianity by conforming it
to the current philosophical trends; over against those
who view Biblical authority selectively and dissent from what they find unreasonable; over against those
who would understand Biblical authority primarily in terms of its writers» religious sensitivity or their proximity
to the primal originating
events of the faith; over against those
who would consider Biblical authority subjectively, stressing the effect on the reader, not the quality of the source — over against all these, evangelicals believe the Biblical text as written
to be totally authoritative in all that it affirms.

Luke had been at pains
to make clear that the risen Jesus was no otherworldly spirit but a physical form with flesh and bones, 42
who consequently presented his disciples with infallible proofs.41 The risen Christ came
to be regarded as having conducted a fresh ministry with his disciples, and in these forty days he «taught them about the kingdom of God».41 But since the experience of the risen Christ was not of this character at the end of the century when Acts was written, it had
to be
made clear that this kind of experience was brought
to an end by a new
event, the Ascension.
