I don't think he is a defensive player
who plays in front of the defence because he can dribble, penetrate and have a little burst.
«He steadies us,» says Ashleigh,
who plays in front of Van Dorp.

Even if Walcott
plays I think there is a case to be made for Lucas to start ahead
of Alex Iwobi,
who is showing some great skills but needs to be sharper
in front of goal.
I have said before yesterdays game that we need a top class forward and dm to challenge having watched yesterdays diabolical performance i feel we need to ad a out and out winger to the team
playing ozil or carzola out left is not working pedro would have been a fantastic signing but looks like he is going to man u. I thought coq passing yesterday was terrible we need someone
who can do both jobs sit
in front of back 4 but when
in possession have the quality to make things happen coq lacks the 2nd part by a long way.
You could see Cech going out a few times and it kinda felt like he didn't trust the 3 players he had
in front of him,
who are not the regular 3 you'd see if everyone is fit for sure, but I thought for a makeshift defense we were alright, and thank god we didn't
play Elneny as a CB.
I understand those
who are not as impressed by his GA, since he was
playing in front of Price most
of the time, that's a valid point.
A footballer like Reus —
who play as a winger,
in midfield or up
front — does not come cheap and The Express claim that Chelsea have been told they must pay # 70m to buy him out
of his contract, which is due to expire
in June 2019.
Playing at the Emirates
in front of a handful
of away supporters only would be such a huge shock to the management (and our players
who also need a kick
in the backside) that the entire would rock the foundations (with the help
of media).
Also Coquelin is a pure defensive midfielder
who plays best just
in front of the back four.
It's difficult to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied to by Wenger... there is no doubt
in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately to recreate our earlier success by acquiring players that fit the system he ran when Henry was
in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened...
in order for Ozl to flourish he needs some speed up
front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss
in the midfield to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders
who can transition from defence to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had
in Real and with the German National squad... unfortunately he ended up on a squad that has a striker
who plays with his back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one to take pressure off him
in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him, which simply highlighted his lacking defensive qualities and defenders
who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes to transitional passing... instead
of blaming Ozil, which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him
in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary to get the best from him... can you imagine Ozil
playing with the likes
of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly to watch and even more difficult to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences
in Real and with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the players around him and we all know
who is
in charge
of making those decisions, the Grinch
who stole soccer
I am hearing Alex Song is tracing with Arsenal and is a free agent after being released from his club
in Russia. He was excellent for us up until his final season and would be a good addition if he sits
in front of the back four and concentrates on breaking up
play and feeding the players
who are technically more gifted
in front of him.Worth a shot till the end
of the season do you think?
I could be wrong but don't see him as a PL centre forward option for some time at least but he is one
of those types
who Wenger obviously likes that could
play anywhere
in the
front 3 behind the CF. I rate DW as a squad player and decent option and am open - minded as to how much better he can become — I suppose bottom line is I don't see Dybala as an either / or option for Welbeck.
Then
who has Bellerin got
in front of him, also the CB position has an off the pace Kos
who was used to
playing left side CB, or else Mustafi the bull.
Ozil and Xhaka should be left on the bench
in view
of their defensive weaknesses against a side like Man City
who are likely to dominate possession.Mertz should not be
played as he simply does not have the pace to cope with the Man City
front three. This may appear a defensive line up but a similar strategy worked well against Chelsea earlier this season and may do so against the most impressive attacking side
in the league.
Secondly, it's going to piss us off watching them flaunt their rings right
in front of us, knowing we were one
play away from beating them last year, and we were the only team
who came close
in the NFC playoffs last yerar to taking them down.
In terms
of forwards or wingers there are 2 options: 1 — Buy a cheap winger for squad and a good forward / striker — This would mean Konoplyanka and Lacazette 2 — buy a world class forward
who can
play across the
front line — This would mean Reus / Pedro / Draxler (all 3 highly unlikely!)
«He's edged
in front of Foster
who seems to be a little up and down although that could be down to him
playing for a struggling team at West Bromwich Albion.
I will die
in peace only when, sometime
in my fifties, an awful neighbor or condescending personal trainer or car salesman
who coaches my kid's little league team offers to
play Street Fighter 2
in front of our wives.
England had to wait until the 53rd minute before they finally broke down the resilient Malta defence, as Harry Kane put the Three Lions
in front thanks to a fine piece
of play from his Spurs teammate Dele Alli
who did brilliantly to pick the striker out despite being surrounding by opposition players.
I think Mesut should
play in a
front three
of Mesut Danny Perez, with Alexis taking up central responsabilities, Iwobi and Walcott are light defensively anyhow so lets put a guy there
who can hit the perfect cross.
In the midfield, (including RWB & LWB) we have a whole bunch of tweeners... none offer the full package, none make sense in our manager's current favourite formation, except for Sead on the left and Ox on the right, and all of them have never shown any consistency for more than a heartbeat... Sead, who I'm including in this category because of our present formation, looks like a positive addition, minus his occasional brain farts, but I would rather see what he could do in a back 4 before making my mind up... Ox, who has never played better, which isn't saying much considering his largely underwhelming play in previous seasons, seems to have found a home in this new formation; unfortunately, can we really expect this oft - injured player to handle the taxing duties that come with said position over the long haul, not to mention, it looks like he has no intention of staying... Ramsey has relied on the empathy that stems from his gruesome injury years ago and the excitement that was generated a few years back when he finally seemed to put in altogether, but on the whole he has been a big disappointment (neither he nor the Ox have scored enough to warrant a regular spot)... Wiltshire should be put on a weekly contract then played until he suffers his first injury, if and when that occurs he should be shipped - out and no one should very be allowed to say his name on club grounds ever again... Elnehy & Coq are average players who couldn't make any of the top 7 teams currently in the EPL... both have showed some great energy on the pitch, but neither are top quality and no good team can afford to have that many average players on their bench playing the same position, especially with Coq's injury history / discipline concerns and Elheny's headless chicken tendencies... as for Xhaka, his tenure here so far has been incredibly underwhelming... we know he has some skills to provide the long ball but his defensive work is piss poor and he gives the ball away too cheaply and far too often... finally, the enigma himself, Ozil, so much skill with his left foot but his presence has been more frustrating than uplifting... in many respects his failure has been directly related to the failure of this club to provide him with the necessary players up front, minus Sanchez of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger'

of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger's)
The funny thing is Giroud
who does track back would never be made to
play in another position for a string
of games to try and develop him, Wenger would stick with him up
front and will do even with Welbeck's superior movement and pace.
Then we need to purchase a solid DM
who can
play that role
in front of our back 4 as a lone wolf.
Whether Hull is
playing well or not should not matter — we should be aiming to beat anyone
who is put
in front of us.
And also 2015 - 2016 when Giroud went 15 games
in a row without scoring a goal, Wenger
played Walcott up
front instead
of Alexis
who is a better finisher and following season proved he could score 20 + PL goals.
Up
front we have a few world - class players surrounded by some serious pretenders... Sanchez is by far the most accomplished player
in our attack but the controversy surrounding his contractual mishandling could see him go before the window closes or most definitely by season's end... obviously a mistake by both parties involved, as Sanchez's exploits have never been more on display than
in North London, but the club's irresponsible wage structure and lack
of real intent have been the real undoing
in this mess... Lacazette,
who I think has some world - class skills as a
front man, will only be as good as the players and system around him, which is troubling due to our current roster and Wenger's love
of sideways passing... Walcott should have been sold years ago, enough said, and Welbeck should never have been brought
in from the get - go... both
of these players have suffered numerous injuries over their respective careers and neither are good enough to overcome such difficulties: not to mention, they both are below average first - touch players, which should be the baseline test for any player coming to a Wenger - led Arsenal team... Perez should have been
played wide left or never purchased at all; what a huge waste
of time and money, which is ridiculous considering our penny pinching ways and the fact that fans had been clamoring for a real striker for years... finally Giroud, the fact that he stills wears the jersey is a direct indictment
of this club's failure to get things right... this isn't necessarily an attack on Giroud because I think he has some highly valued skills, but not for a team that has struggled to take their sideways soccer to the next level, as his presence slows their game even more, combined with our average, at best, finishing skills... far too often those
in charge have either settled or chosen half - measures and ultimately it is us that suffer because no matter what happens Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke will always make more money whereas we will always be the ones paying for their mistakes... so every time someone suggests we should just shut - up and support the team just think
of all the sacrifices you've made along the way and simply reply... f *** off
I know going to 442 is backwards but we havnt been the same since Bergkamp and Henry
played up
front as a 2 so with rumors
of who might come
in i think we could start using that again and at least players will know what there doing cause atm.
Juve playmaker Giovinco has been linked with the club several times
in the past, and looks a player
who could fit
in well into Arsenal's system with his neat link - up
play, while French striker Gignac is
in fine form
in front of goal at the moment, with 12 goals
in just 9 games this term.
That's the point.Something needs to change or else I don't see the need
of Ozil here.If his best ability is to create chances why put players
who can't finish
in front of him.We need to
play to his strengths. The guy needs to be used effectively.I was shocked at the number
of assists he had
in 15/16 season.Even people thought he'd break Henry's record but it couldn't happen. What's the use
of Ozil if he can't assist?
Let's get real here.It is very unlikely that ANY professional player will ever say anything derogatory about a teammate that has just left the club.If Jack had said about Coq - «Grew up
playing with him
in the Youth Team and have fond memories
of a player they though he had very limited ability he always gave his all.Very surprised and disappointed the club never invested
in a World Class defensive midfielder that we have quite obviously been lacking for a number
of seasons and would no doubt have improved the defensive weakness we have shown over a number
of seasons» we would have echoed his thoughts entirely. If he had said about Theo - «A player
who should have been so much better than he ended up being. He had everything needed to be a prolific player for our club but I can understand the fans frustrations with his continued lack - lustre performances and total lack
of a football brain.I think this is best explained by the managers preference to
play a player
of such limited ability as Alex Iwobi
in front of Theo pretty much says it all» we again would have all nodded our agreement.Although Jack never mentioned Alexis Sanchez I would imagine something along the lines
of «If the Manager had not persisted with players with such limited ability such as Francis and Theo and instead bought the world class players needed into the club then Sanchez would still most likely be here. The fans must wonder what the hell goes on at the club as they pay fortunes for the privalage
of following our club but it seems the millions generated ends up purchasing a new Texas Ranch for the Owner or
in a yearly renumeration
of # 9million pounds to our manager».
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety
of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style
of play has become a shadow
of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and
play» mentality where players
play out
of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense
in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid
of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes
in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi,
who seems to have any prowess
in the offensive zone or
who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance
play quickly out
of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself
in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes
of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted
play of Monreal, but none
of these players possess the skill - set required
in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was
playing and his ratio
of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling
in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched
played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago,
who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball
play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points
in the latter part
of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he
played with Coq Wenger always seemed to
play Francis
in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself
in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him
in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part
of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature
of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive
in the final third... on the
front end, we have Ozil, a player
of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been
played out
of position far too many times since arriving and that the players
in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence
in Real or the space and protection he receives
in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived
in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components...
in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them
in large part as headless chickens
who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion
in a regular starting eleven; I would say that,
of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one
of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin
in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation...
in Sanchez, we get one
of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already
of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs
of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often
in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and
in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack
of mobility is an albatross around the necks
of our offence... so when you ask
who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because
of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place
in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Although I've found it very cathartic to speak, vent and end occasionally rant about all things Arsenal, we need to act carefully and intelligently right now or we're going to get
played by this club even worse than at present... the pro-Wengerites and the suits,
who represent a considerable proportion
of the season ticket holders, don't want to believe that there is no plan and that Wenger has mailed it
in for several years now or that things are going to get much worse before they get better... why would they... many have spent a considerable sum buying some
of the highest priced tickets
in the World... they want to have a
front row seat to see something special and to be seen doing so, which simply provides ample justification for the expense and the time invested... to many
of them, Wenger is the sun
in their soccer universe... his awkward disposition, misplaced arrogance and his utter lack
of balls makes him a rather unusual cult figure, but the cerebral narrative seemed to embolden those
who already felt pretty highly
of themselves... many might not even
of really liked football that much before his arrival and rarely games they weren't attending... as such, they desperately believe that Wenger, and only Wenger, can supply them with their required fix... if he goes, they were wrong and that's a tough pill to swallow... they would have to admit that they were duped... they will definitely resent whoever made them feel this way, but
of course it will be too late by then... so when we go overboard with ridiculous comments bordering
of anarchy, it scares the shit out
of them and they shift their blame towards us rather than at those
who really perpetrated this act
of treason... we aren't the enemy... we simply woke much earlier and the reason our comments have gotten more vile
in recent years is out
of utter frustration...
in order for any real change to occur at this club we need to bring as many supporters as possible with us or the big money interests will fade and our ultimate objective will be lost... so it's time to focus on the head instead
of the heart for now
Hes a jedi but i agree we need cazorla back or player like him or rosicky or song and coquin wasnt song
who can still
play with the passing
of the other players
in the team xhaka is usually good on ball but so bad off
of it hes been a bust so far we almost need the french connection again they have quality players we could use but honestly i think auba will be more effective on flank pnce we get laca back it takes alot
of strength to
play up
front in the premier league it takes two years to rebuild
in pl at least bit we have had two rough years and not nearly as rough as chelseas or man u or Liverpool or well this is as big as totteham will be before we make them drop down again and oh do nt forget man city either lets remember our history
I said a while back, and will continue to say it now, Ramsey needs to come off the bench, move Santi to the box to box role (which he's already pretty much doing now) and
play or Mesut or Tomas
in front of him depending on
who we're
playing.
Then along came Arsene
who changed the «English game»
of lumping it up to the big man up
front (aka route One football) he introduced arguably two
of the best left backs ever to have
played in the premier league Ashley Cole (The original Judas) and Gael Clichy.
I know that not all
of us like or even enjoy the 1 up top system we
play and the derogatory «hold up» role Giroud
plays in a
front 3 but I can't readily identify the player
who would be obviously and significantly better
in doing the same things
in our system.
If both Xhaka and Elneny
play in the center
of the park, and Iwobi, Ozil and Ramsey
play in the
front three, with Alexis up
front, we still have enough people
who can head the ball pretty well.
watching my team against Ireland yesterday even tough we won i wasn, t impressedit, we only start
playing with purpose when we go behind and when we, re
in front we slow down our
play, i thought koscielny had a decent game with a couple
of good clearance and his job was made more difficult by adil rami
who is a burden on the team and always one mistake away, giroud can, t be blamed for his first half performance the guy was starved
of any service and it, s only when griezman was moved to his favourite position that giroud started making the difference what a great assist, by the way shane long dived for the penalty but that, s ok we are square now with the irish we had henry, s handball & they had the penalty!!
Great to see Welbeck
playing in front, someone
who looks like is not only taking the chances that others create for him but also capable
of creating chances for himself (and others).
I trust wenger
in many things
in football but beating Chelsea specifically mourinho is NOT one
of them... these guy has surely dominated wenger
in whatever game he
plays defensive or not... but the most painful
of all is the surprise gift
of a 6 - 0 loss on mr wenger's 1000 game for us... Its like that situation when the guy
who bullies you and you hate the most f**k s your prom date and then brags all over your face
in in -
front of the whole school
He's not a deep playmaker but a midfield work horse
who will support the striker as opposed to Cazorla
who plays the Ozil role
in front of the defence
When our
front 3 is Alexis (
who cuts
in a lot), Giroud, and Ramsey, we tend to
play infront
of our opposition too much and just kick the ball around without any penetration.
why
play Bel LWB
in front of Sead why leave mustafi on the bench why buy mustafi for 35m then sell or loan him out

Wenger lost the plot when he brought
in Giroud... what about the beautiful game involves having a lumbering striker
who's main attribute is holding up
play... our success with Wenger, and even before, came with pace and clinical striking up
front, having a boss
in the midfield and having physically imposing CBs... what about Wright, Bergkamp, Anelka, Henry or RVP remind anyone
of Giroud (minus the left foot
of course)... the formula was broken, which didn't have to be the end
of our success, but when you adopt half - measures you can't expect things just to work themselves out on their own... at the very least Wenger should have brought
in some wingers that can consistently cross the ball and then spend significantly more time addressing our lack
of success with set pieces... ultimately this is why we continued to struggle with consistency and continued to constantly
play people
in the wrong positions
