Well, you know you have those of us
who are regular readers and would miss your
writing, but maybe you can think
about just posting when a
topic really excites you in some way, and not feel obligated to
write otherwise.
It's also why I invite comments and critiques from faithful collaborators — pastors, scholars, artists, scientists, doctors, parents, blog commenters, and editors —
who often know more
about a given
topic than I and whose insights improve my
writing by miles.
But each time I read books, blogs or articles
about the
topic (granted that I am more inclined to read stuff
written by people
who are really serious
about their relationship with God rather than people complaining merely because they can — and thereâ $ ™ s plenty of them), I come to one conclusion: The complaints are mostly
about what the church has become (or how people perceive the church to be) than against the church itself.
As you know, I've
written about this
topic and perhaps need to
write more, since leaving «church» often results in a real struggle — a struggle to explain our actions to former «church» friends and perhaps to family, people
who are determined that following Jesus means parking one's butt in a pew in a building that has a sign out front that says «church».
Whenever I
write about this
topic, I get a flood of responses from people
who say I'm being too divisive.
