Health is wealth and while I don't mind spending more money on high quality
food, it has been our experience since switching to a

Eating a
whole -
foods plant based
diet offers something money can't buy, and the odds are actually in its favour!
Unfortunately, even though my vegetarian
diet was as healthy as I could make it with

foods made from scratch, it just wasn't working no matter how much I tried.

Ever since we transitioned to a

diet a few years ago, the positive benefits of our new way of eating haven't stopped popping up here and there.
While a
whole food plant based
diet is very powerful for fighting inflammation in the body, sometimes it may
not be enough.
Singling out or indeed demonising any one
food, beverage or nutrient in the
whole diet isn't going to do anyone any good.
In the media particularly, veganism can often be portrayed as a virtuously healthy, «clean»
diet full of fruits, vegetables,
whole grains, nuts and seeds -
not an ounce of processed
food in sight.
I don't eat animal products but do consume
whole plant
food powder in smoothies and I haven't given much thought about them adding even more protein to my plant based
diet... so I will be discontinuing them (thanks to you mentioning it)!!
I'm
not generally a fan of single - macronutrient products like protein powders anyway and try to get my nutrients from
whole foods as much as possible, but it's nice to have the option sometimes if I'm making a shake or smoothie to get a protein boost as I just haven't seemed to build up the stomach capacity on an plant based
diet to fit all that
food in there, and sometimes I just want a break from nut / seed butters, quinoa and
whole soy.

whole foods, you don't have to worry about protein at all as it's in pretty much all

I'm thrilled that she doesn't like the artificial based fruit pops and I know that has everything to do with eating a mainly
whole food plant based
diet since she was born.
We do know that restricting the
diet so radically has an impact on the mother's nutrient intake, so I would on the
whole recommend
NOT trying to avoid such a wide range of
foods, even in the early months when colic is more common.
