I am the mom
of a six
month - old, and while
breastfeeding is going okay, it certainly didn't begin that way, nor can I say that it is my favorite thing to do in the
whole wide world.
This pain doesn't typically last through the
whole feed and usually decreases and disappears on its own over the first
month or so
of breastfeeding.
With Alex I am determined to
breastfeed for 12
months, obviously if he wants to stop then I will but to be able to feed him myself for a
whole year and to switch straight to cows milk instead
of faffing about making bottles
of formula would be amazing.
I am not sure if being the granddaughter
of a dairy farmer made me better prepared for pumping, but I definitely think that my sense
of humor about the
whole thing helped me
breastfeed my first son for one year and my second son for going on 10
months after my RTW twelve weeks after each
of the boys were born.

Month, and the first week is World
Breastfeeding Week.

For toddlers over the age
of 12
months who are not
breastfed or do not take baby formula,
whole milk is the best alternative.
I have four children, ages: ten, eight, six and three, and my experience with the lactation consultant didn't occur until my last baby when he was five
months old and was having some health issues and after that
