Prevalent throughout the paintings are crustaceans, crabs and sea creatures - famously characteristic of Pallisy ware -
whose sheer abundance, overblown size and voluptuousness embody both the drama and
pleasure of the senses and the wasteful lavishness of the baroque, recurrent throughout Varejao's practice.
