on a budget, but it looks sufficiently polished and cinematic for a basic cable TV

widescreen formats, devised and touted in response to television's widespread popularity.
But, like the fact tracks occasionally found
on DVD, it is mildly enriching for those who already like the
movie (and are able to overlook not seeing it in 2.35:1
widescreen as intended).
The mastering
on this 2.35:1 anamorphic
widescreen transfer appears to have paid fine attention to colour saturation, but that doesn't mean the
movie's Technicolor looks any more vivid than, say, an episode of «Emergency!».
As an added «screw you» to those who don't or won't do
widescreen, this is only available for your hearing pleasure
on the original aspect ratio version of the
movie.

I compared one scene of the fullscreen transfer with the
widescreen equivalent and saw that the two versions of the
movie seemed to come from the same print, so if you want to see my thoughts
on the transfer, go and see them in my review of Disc 2.
Not really the type of
movie you'd expect to see in 2.40:1
widescreen, Unaccompanied Minors arrives
on DVD in both this wide native theatrical aspect ratio and a 4x3 television - filling 1.33:1 presentation,
on opposite sides of a DVD - 10.
Especially as a new owner of a
widescreen television, I'm happy that Disney's finally gotten with the times and started releasing its cable
movies on DVD in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with which they air
on Disney Channel HD.
THE DVD by Bill Chambers Fox presents Fever Pitch
on DVD in a 2.31:1 anamorphic
widescreen transfer (fullscreen sold separately) that fluctuates between film - like and overtreated; there is a constant dimness, but chalk that up to cinematographer Matthew F. Leonetti, whose
movies always make you think you have cataracts.
As well, there is a history lesson
on CinemaScope, an audio interview with screenwriter Philip Dunne (recorded in 1969), press materials from the
movie's début, a comparison of the
widescreen and standard versions of the film and a picture - in - picture mode.
DVD Details: Warner Home Video's DVD comes with the
widescreen version
on one side and the pan-and-scan
on the other, but this is definitely a
movie that needs to be seen in
widescreen.
The fact that this DVD preserves the original presentation gives it some merit, but the
widescreen presentation — which is available
on the
movie's Blu - ray release — should definitely be offered here too.
It won't be long before this private culture of which we've spoken gets even more private, and most of the
movies we see are downloaded to watch
on our
widescreen TVs (or tiny iPods).
Rounding out the
widescreen side: a forced PSA
on the evils of buying pirated
movies (hilarious not only because it's inept, but also because it decorates a DVD that nobody in China is pirating); a «Backyard Baseball Demo» for your DVD - ROM; and The Sandlot 2's trailer.

widescreen, enhanced for 16x9 displays.
Its extensive 3.8 inch, high resolution,
widescreen WVGA touchscreen offers users stunning clarity and vibrant colours, providing an unrivalled experience when watching
movies or using Orange's mobile TV service, browsing the internet
on Orange's high speed data network (3G +) or even scanning through photos taken with its 5 megapixel auto focus camera.
Watching video
on the Curve 8520's screen is okay, but its dimensions mean that
movie trailers in
widescreen can end up looking pretty cramped with heavy black bars above and below.
It was fine for
widescreen movies and even some games like the side - scrolling Badlands, but truly odd when you read a Kindle book
on it in portrait mode (landscape with multiple pages
on one screen made more sense).
16 × 9 are good for
widescreen movies, but is sucks for pretty much everything else done
on tablets, like web browsing or reading stuff.
And the fact is that a
widescreen movie even
on the iPad's larger 1.33:1 display is the same size as
on the smaller
widescreen display.
Watch full length
movies in high quality HD
on the 10.1» HD
widescreen.
Movies and TV shows streamed over Amazon Instant Video and Netflix barely look better than DVD (480p) quality and since the screen's taller than a 16:9 aspect ratio, you get black bars
on the top and bottom of your
widescreen content.
Android 3.0
on the Xoom is a terrific multimedia combination: HD
movies look great in the
widescreen aspect ratio, you get Flash support for online video, and Google's redesigned music player is very appealing.

It may not be the best ratio and resolution for watching
widescreen movies, but overall the screen is very good for surfing the web and reading, so we're not surprised that Apple has stuck with what it knows
on both of these tablets.
