But above it all is God's love for man - kind manifested in
the willing sacrifice of His Son so that you and I have the opportunity to dwell in Heaven for eternity.

Even at this primitive stage
of humanity's relationship with God, Abraham learns that God does not want his
son to die, but rather it is God who
will provide the
sacrifice Himself.
Also, for the first time, Abraham is told that his seed shall be victorious in wars with its enemies — which means,
of course, that there
will be later need for God - fearing men to
sacrifice their
sons, this time in battle; in the absence
of fathers who are
willing to pay such a price, God's way on earth can not survive in the world against its enemies.

Read the Christian Greek Scriptures (or New Testament) and you
will find that God has cast
of the Nation
of Israel for a new Israel, a Spiritual Israel, made up
of peoples
of all nations... the requirement being that they believe that Jesus is the
Son of God, and that they believe in the Ransom
Sacrifice that He made for all the people
of the earth.
But again the point
of Jesus dying isn't that God requires a
sacrifice but rather the point is that God loves us so much that he was
willing to send His
son to die for us
As Søren Kierkegaard noted in perhaps his most influential book, Fear and Trembling, if the story
of Abraham's attempted
sacrifice of his
son means anything it must signify that God transcends the categories (or at least our categories)
of good and evil and that to follow the way
of the Lord
will eventually, at least for some select chosen ones, mean to renounce those norms.
It is by atoning
sacrifice of God's
Son, who took upon himself the body
of flesh, to become one
of us, that HE may become the
sacrifice for our sins, and that whoever takes refuge in Him,
will not stand before God in his / her own righteousness, but in Christ Righteousness.
This is the rock where God ordered Abraham to bind his
son Isaac for
sacrifice, and where later David and Solomon would build the central ritual structure
of Judaism, the twice - destroyed temple that many Jews dream
will be rebuilt in a messianic future when the dead are revived.
Once in prison, he came to accept that he had loved drugs more than his own life, but how could he live with the knowledge that he was
willing to
sacrifice his
son on the altar
of his addiction?
Father was satisfied with Jesus sacrifisce but NOT because Father would require blood and death
of an innocent
Son, but because Father's and
Son's love is so great that it was
WILLING to endure and
sacrifice everything, even to die undeservingly and unjustly, in order to show us that love.
