won an Oscar, but even with both actors killing it
in regular roles on network sitcoms (Rash is the Dean on «Community,» Faxon is one half of the title duo on Fox «s recently axed «Ben & Kate «-RRB-, most of the
country, and even the industry, might have struggled to pick them
out of a line - up, but that could all start to change once their directorial debut, «The Way Way Back,» leaves Park City and finds audiences around the world.
That is because the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming to the Oscars as the
country is hoping to
win in the Foreign Language category for Loveless (despite its own criticism of Putin) and should be
out in force.
We'd be even more likely to put Elswit
out in front if we thought Roger Deakins's votes would be split between No
Country for Old Men (which has the same momentum that carried Pan's Labyrinth to its
win here last year) and The Assassination of Jesse James, et al (which has the passionate fan base tickled by all those precious, gauzy doll - house shots serving as scene bumpers).
Aw, I really hate to rank Bridges
in 10th place, because I was so very glad to see the actor finally
win the big prize, but I think I can speak for my fellow AwardsPicks colleagues
in saying that Bridges»
win as the down - and -
out country singer
in Crazy Heart was definitely more of a career award than it was his best performance.
